Installing Ride Height Adjuster.
Hey All,
I'm just got a ride height adjuster rod off an S model and I am going to install it onto my non S 1100 model. Is there any steps on removal and installation of this? I dont want the bike to collapse once the bar is off. I read that some people used a ladder with straps to keep the rear end lifted up. Is this necessary?
Thanks!

I tied my subframe to the rafters of my garage using ratchet straps. It will collaps once the shock is removed.
I used soft ties wrapped around the subframe, then to ratchet straps. You may be able to put jack stands under the rearsets, but that isn't very stable. i acually had a bike fall off of a setup like that before.
Make sure you do height measurements beforehand or you can mess up your geometry. I didn't and ended up with my rear end jacked up so damn high that I had to lean the bike at stop lights. It turned in like a 125 2 stroke though!
I'd make sure you have a good set of 1/2 inch allen socket bits (4mm-8mm should get you through the job).
Also a telescoping magnet pick up tool will help when you leave the inevitable socket inside your swingarm. The job is basically nuts and bolts and replacing the non-adjustable rod. If you take a photo beforehand, it could be useful if you forget how things go back together.

Thanks for the directions and suggestions guys. Man...now I'm all paranoid that I am going to lose something in the swingarm. Mountainrider, does your bike make lots of noise every time you hit a bump with the socket bouncing around in there? I think I'll end up using both a jackstand on the rear set and also use ratchet tie downs to hold it up. Both working together should keep things pretty stable.

I was able to fish mine out with the magnet. You should be good with your doubling up on supports.

No noise. It is apparently wedged into some recess where it will dwell happily and forever.
