difference between hyper 1100s and 1100evo sp
Hi guys,
Does anyone know if the air box on the evo sp is the same shape as the 1100s Will a mwr air filter full airbox top fit the sp.
Also will a pcv off and 1100s fit on the sp version.
We have all read the test reviews on the new bikes but how does the sp version compare with the 1100s. I presume we have a few people on the forumn that have had both??
Is the sp as good as they say or is there not really much in it?

hi luca, i'm not going to bash to old model..but i have riden a base 1100 (non s) and own a EVO sp..i love it..as a back road blaster or casual ride with my lady on board it is brilliant, the brakes are awesome and really make you vommit with some decent fluid in them, i love the forks...the lighter steering the far greater ground clearance was a must for me. the paint work is delicious , with a mx helmet it is evil, with a road helmet you can ride fwys i did 77 klms in one go the other day (you all my chuckle but thats my usual back road loop) i usually feel sick after that distance , due to the forces this bike applies to my body..as for the filter lid yes it will fit, the sp just has a revised lid to breathe a bit better i was told... at ducati in melb here my bike with 1026klms on it ran the same pwr as all 3 1100s models with full 2-1 systems DP ecu and DP lids...actually 1 hp more than 2 of them and the same as the 3rd 87rwhp (same dyno) most of the std 1100s on the same dyno ran 79-81rwhp . if you like to push and shove and throw things around By an SP if you want to ride around and have fast fun get the 1100s ( my theory was that without mods i am already 6hp up and 7kgs lighter...then i mod mine i am another 7 kgs lighter and another 6-8 hp up....
so making an 1100 s as light as powerful as grippy and the ground clearance in Oz would cost around $ 550 for tyres $ 4800 for the exhaust (to get the same hp) $ 5800 for the forks or $ 900 rear sets etc etc , i know in the usa and uk stuff is far cheaper.. but for me the SP was $1800 more than the 1100s (as teh S was on special) but i got a free gold chain DP perf seat, crash nobs. and free on roads..how could i go any other way .. to all the wonderful S riders i am not slamming the S i am sure it also kicks ass, just that for me the new bike was impossible to say no too. johnnie...
hope all the crap i have spoke makes some sense i tend to ramble on

The PCV will not fit the SP. Different systems altogether.

no problem with the ramble jonnie... but it didn't really answer the question.
how do you rate the 2 bikes, how does the taller suspension affect the turn-in for example? Is the SP a more plush ride, does it pitch back and forth more? Is the it harder to weight the front wheel in turns or does the increased lean angle compensate. etc. etc. etc. thanks

I had an `08 1100 base Hyper with a Termi 2 into 1 and a few carbon bits and now a stock `10 EVO SP other than aluminum subframe. I haven't messed around with the EVO SP suspension, to me it feels much firmer, doeesn't pictch back and forth as much as the old Hyper. Downside ~1.7 inches taller than the base and I'm 5'-6" To Alexio other questions I haven't ridden the EVO SP hard enough yet to answer.
Engine wise IMHO the EVO SP has it over the old dual spark motor. Spins up quicker and more powerful. With the money I save in spark plugs I'll be getting a Termi 2 into 1 system

Here is a recent thread with some dyno info, imo the dual spark is just as good as the EVO. Both bikes can benefit from a good cartridge kit and a professional set-up for your needs.

ok i'll try harder sorry alexio..
remember i comming off an ape SXV550 (which to me was the most mental evil fun thing i ever had)
after test riding the 2009 hyper 1100 , i felt it lacked power had great torque was incredibly comfortable to ride around and sit on, scrapped the pegs often this happened on my test ride! was very plush, having then rode the SP it is lighter has more power (much snappier off the bottom of the throttle) engine spins up faster , seems to still make power over 7000 rpm. will whellie in bottom 3 gears no worries..is far more agreesive to ride (bars feel far more sensitive to rider input much more agressive turn in, maybe the rake is different? its bloody firmly sprung rides much harder than the std bike..makes you wanna pee on bumby roads, but on full tilt is is magic, everything flattens out and comes together like a power boat chopping thru a ruf sea..get my drift..so i feel with another 7 kgs off my bike once my exhaust comes, and the pro-tune and stacks..it should pick up another 7hp i am hoping (from what i have seen on the old bike) it already lots of tourge i love to short shift her . but a few more HP will be nice too
so yeah it rides bloody firm
it turns on a dime
the lean angles can get ridiculous
in white i love it (looks racey with the stripes and diff to the std bike)
can go 2 up for short town trips with my girl
can jump train tracks , hop gutters, back it in...and wheelie for ever when its just me and my Machine ..

To include sans baffles exhaust notes, chirpingly screeching point & shoot maneuvers, the wheelies, jumping train tracks, riding stairs, sidewalks & curbs, excessive speed... I extol, this motorcycle can & will transform a gentleman into a reckless felon, by definition. Bored, Stroked, & Bedazzled in Titanium, Magnesium, Billet and Carbon. Oh & I am SO down with the 09 S Deux-Spark!
