Fork cartridge kit of choice?
Just wanted to see which cartridge kit most of you are choosing. From the info I've gathered, it seems that RaceTech or Ohlins are my choices. Am looking to send my forks off in January, but need to sent them to the company that can set mine up for my weight and usage "perfectly" the first time around. Have heard of people having problems with RaceTech, but other than those who take advantage of track-day set-ups, have not heard much feedback from Ohlins either. As always, will send out thanks in advance.
P.S. what's the best method of supporting your bike to remove the front forks safely and still support it while the forks are removed....

I'm going to send my forks out to Traxxion Dynamics. Their AK-20 Cartridges are $999.00 but include springs, preload spacers and oil. They are not drop in so you have to send them your forks. They charge $175 for a full service which includes a complete disassembly, cleaning/inspecting all the components, measuring the tubes for straightness, polishing the inner tube, replacing the seals, then installing the AK-20 Kit, fresh oil, and baseline settings. The forks are ready to bolt on and ride when you receive them back.
They are a reputable company that started from the ground floor in the roadracing circles and I have a lot of respect for them and their work. YMMV.
As for removing the forks a triple clamp stand will be the way I go but I will also back that up with a bottle jack under the engine as well.
I'm still in the process of saving for this expendature.....

Oscar at T-Rex Racing gave a pretty rippin' deal on a Front Stand with Triple Tree... I got a rear stand from them as well. They come in Black! Both for as much as one Pit Bull SHIPPED. There's already a thread on this, I know...

I had traxxion do several shocks. Very good service and end result. I don't use anyone else for the shocks.
Many users have bought GP suspensions cartridges in a 500 page group buy thread.
I would personally get a recetech cart if I was in the market. Others might perform slightly better or worse, who knows. I would buy from them because the cartridge can be adapted to fit your next bike with the adapter kit that they sell. Basically, the same cartridge kit fits most bikes.
I have T-rex sliders, great customer service and price. i also have a rear stand that I love. I highly reccomend them.

GP Suspension is my choice and has been for many years now. They did a set of 1098 showa forke for my track bike and when I purchased my 1198s the thing handled like a truck compared to the 1098, after many days of fiddlin with the new Ohlins and trying to get them to perform like the GP Suspension showa's with the 25 mm cartrages , I gave up and sent the Ohlins to Dave at GPSuspension, he up-dated the Ohlins, re sprung them for my weight and did a fluid change, NOW they work great ! I say GP Suspension for every bike I will ever own. They have my forks for my BMW S 1000 right now , and I can't wait to get them back and try them on the beast .

Totally impressed!!
Decreasing Dave, thanks for this info. Had only thought Ohlins or RaceTech made cartridge kits for our Ducs. Will look them up and probably run that down much sooner than expected. From what you're telling me, their price is almost 1/2 of the Ohlin package....Hope some others will chime in with other info....Thanks again..

The Ohlins package is about $1500, so not half. I went Ohlins to keep the bike Ohlins all the way around.

Ohlins 25mm kit is sold by Ducshop at 1.450$.
It's a drop in kit, including oil and a set of spring for your weight and riding type.
Ducshop, I beleive (but could be wrong), charges 150 or 180$ for the install.
NYSport and Gregor are both using this kit and more than pleased with it.
Race-tech GP25 kit is 1250$ but does not include a set of spring.
Traxxion 20mm Kit is 990$, but is not a drop in, you have to ship it and get the job done by the good folks at traxxion.
Maxton is also doing a 25 kit on request, it turns out to be 380£ with a set of seals.
It lowers the fork travel by 10mm and use the OEM Marzo fork caps.
They dont ship to USA.
Doon is happy with this kit
Gubellini is also making a kit, someone on ducatisti.co.uk is using it.
Angreani Group, the folks behind parts of the 46mm Ohlins Fork for Hypermotard is also making a 25mm kit for almost 500euros.
Mupo is also making a kit, about 1300$, that can be bundled with a Mupo Shock for 2.800$. You can find this kit on ebay US sometimes, or order it in Italy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
More expensive solutions are complete set of forks.
Ohlins is offering a 46mm fork + clamps + fork bottom 100mm for a low price of 2.200euros.
The kit is mostly done by Andreani Group in Italy and sold by Omnia Racing where you should be able to bargain it for a 2k euro with a few words of Italian.
This fork does not offer a preload adjustment feature...
NCR is also selling this fork, with their own specs.
It cost twice more, and the fork bottoms are not included. NCR can add them for an extra 1.000 euros and they are 108mm, so you need new calipers.
Paioli is also offering on request a gas charged fork, the same one they recently used on the Hyper Pramac, for 3.600 euros
