new bst-003 and cold temps = fun times ...
rode the hypertard to a business meeting this am ... outside temp was a nice 45ºF, and since i had a brand new bridgestone bst-003 mounted on the rear last weekend and had not scrubbed it in yet, i knew to take it VERY easy.
exiting the on-ramp to 280 south in 2nd gear, managed to break the rear loose about a foot.
then when accelerating away from stop sign once i got off the freeway, i managed to break the rear end loose in a straight line ... spun the tire up from about 2,500 rpm really quickly to 6,000 rpm.
did not look for tire smoke, but it was fun
can't wait until it warms up just a little, so i can scrub the tire in completely.

New tires and cold weather, what a combo! I rode to work today and it was 32F, tires were not sticking too well on the first corner as I left the sub division and I was being careful.

believe me, i am extra careful when scrubbing in new tires, double careful when the road temps are below 55ºF ... and triple careful when the both of the aforementioned conditions are present

Good equation for a couple moments... followed closely by
Let us know how the new tire performs once it is broken in.
Cheers.

Pfft, what a pussy. Alex woulda ridden that slide around 360 degrees and then popped a wheelie over the guard rail into on coming traffic, bunny hopped onto an oncoming car, spun around and settled into traffic. Of course the throttle would be pinned the entire time and doing it all one handed while eating a burrito, and balancing a soda Ingrid bars.
I'm just saying........

this is the second BST-003 rear i have had on the hypertard ... the front still had plenty of wear left in it from the first set. i really like the bst-003 tires ... got about 3,500 miles out of the original rear, they heat up very quickly, are very sticky (triple compound on rear tire, double on front, so hard in center, softer just off center, and really soft on edges. oh, and they are relatively inexpensive. what's not to like?

Ditto the careful warning. Had a nasty high side years ago on my ST in late Nov on cold tires.

How about "feel" at the limit??
The only 'stones I ever rode on put me in the hospital for 4 days because they had zero feel at the limit. That was a front tire that failed me but what about the rear? I like to slide them too.
