Rear Subframe replacement znd install?
Wanted to see who here has replaced their rear subframe with an aluminum model? Are you happy? How hard was the install? Was it just removing the seat and exhaust?

Not too difficult. I removed the tank but you don't need to, just raise the back of the tank up. Looks good and saves some weight.

I replaced the subframe and it is a little more complex than just removing the seat. When I installed the subframe I decided to be lazy and just to loosen the fuel tank and remove the original subframe under it. I used my bicycle stand to hold up the rear portion of the tank and that worked well. I found the hard part was attaching the rear tank rubber supports. I even enlisted the small hands to fit in the tight confines and he couldn't do it.

It took me as long to put on the two rubber supports as it did to remove the original subframe, tail lights, turn signals, exhaust, and the battery and the rubber tank supports. The easiest way if I were to do it again would be to remove the fuel tank.
I like the quality of the subframe from Motowheels, though it is a bit too shiny. It does cut down on a few pounds up top.

its very simple and straight forward. I replaced my exhaust at the same time so i just pulled the subframe with the slip ons attacked. Worked very well. I only lifted the subframe and did not remove it completely.

There not painted and I haven't noticed any flaking. I wash the bike about once a month and that's about it. Thanks.
