Riseing oil level/studder on throttle

My bike is an 08 Hyper.
Recently I noticed the oil level rises. For sure the oil is not being added from an unknown external source i.e. the oil fairy sneaking in my garage at night, so what could it be? My guess is either gas getting in or water and it doesn't seem to be one of those.
I siphoned about 500ml to get the sight glass level and after looking at that oil it looked very dirty with tiny metal bits inside so I decide to change it. I use Redline big twin engine oil (20w-50). Metal bits do not seem very abnormal for a Ducati from what I read.? So after the oil was changed I rode about 6 miles (hard) came back to my garage and checked my oil and it went up maybe 4mm!
Also related or not at low rpms the bike studders to get going, like maybe the injectors are dirty. I hear the Ducati dealer in Charlotte is an a-hole so I dont really want to go there unless I have to. THANKS!

Do you not change the filter when you change the oil?

Are you draining the filter at the very least?

Yes, I changed the oil filter and strainer, a few shaveings and what looked like a blue paint chip (thread lock maybe) were on the strainer. The oil level magicly goes up?

Motor slightly warm before you change the oil? Remember, the Hyper holds a ton of oil since it's oil cooled.

Are you measuring how much oil you drain? on the race bikes we always did this to try and catch to see if it was using any.

Yes sir, before the oil change the oil I took a ride, came back to the garage and shortly after drained the oil. As for measureing the oil, that is a good idea but I dont have a way to take an accurate measurment. After an oil change there are a lot of variables as to why the oil leve would rise (Ill check the level again next ride) but before that I never added any oil and ended up draining 1/2 a liter to to the bullseye mark from a riding period of about 1700 miles.

There is no way the oil level will rise on its own, you probably just read it wrong.

The best way to check your oil is to let the bike sit overnight, so all the oil has ran down, hold the bike level with both wheels on level ground, check the sight glass.
Now go for your ride. Do the same thing the next day, at the same spot, you will be at the same spot or "less",........ I promise Aloha Alex
You would smell the gas in the oil if there was any.

I know, its a physical impossibility for oil to just appear in the sump but I did fill a 500ml Dasani bottle with oil syphoned from the sump of my bike to get the level to normal on the sight glass....

...I just had a thought....

1. The oil was pretty much black, like what you would see coming from a diesel engine, is this normal?

2. When I first started the bike after the oil change I left the oil cap off. A strong strait breeze (as opposed to a pulsating pumping type air flow) came from the oil fill port. I didnt think much about it at the time.. I dont think this is normal?

3a. This leads to the 3rd issue. The bike wheezes to, shutters or shudders like a bad fuel delivery or bad spark or what ever. The bike seems overall weak in power too.

My thought on what could be happening here is: Could gas (as in solid/liquid/gas) be getting by the piston mixing carbon/combustion byproducts with the oil raising the level, also pushing that combustion gas into the breather tube that goes from the sump to the intake box. This would choke out the engine acceleration power and also a weak (piston) seal along with gas recircing would kill the over-all power.

see if you can light the oil from the dasani bottle on fire. probably could use it to cook hot dogs, although they may not taste the same as charcoal grilled ones do

I'll cast my vote for coolant getting past the head gasket or the seal on the water pump.

1. All oils get dark/black, just depends on how long you run it, I change mine at every 2500mi & use Redline 20w50, comes out a little dark, not black

2. Don't know, never ran without the oil cap.

3. Maybe you got some bad gas or water in the gas, drain your tank & fill with fresh gas. If that doesn't work, take it to the dealer for a check, could be lots of things that can make a bike run bad.

There will be no gas or carbon coming from the piston & going into the oil, unless you have no rings, and if had no rings the bike would not run.. Aloha Alex
