Thumbs up GOOD NEWS!! for Hypers!

OK, great news for anyone who has broken tank covers, (lower mounting hole)

I have a 08 Hyper "S" with 17,000 miles, bought it new, first owner, NO extended warranty.

My bike has both lower tabs broken off the tank covers, the bike has never been down or hit, I showed this to my dealer, and they took some pictures and they said they would try to do something.......

And guess what??!! I'm getting BOTH new tank covers & new GAS TANK REPLACED!

Apparently the gas tank is "growing" and is putting pressure on the tank covers lower mounting holes and breaking them, and since the "tank" is a emissions item it carries a 5yr warranty! Ducati is now probably now going to hire a "HIT MAN" to come get me for letting you guys know this.....so, now you know, & your welcome! Aloha Alex

Wow 17,000 miles you don't mess around. Good news indeed, seems a lot of Ducati's are having this tank problem. I heard this happens because of the ethanol in the gas these days. I wonder if the larger tanks from Ca. Cycle works are immune to ethanol? If they are I might have to save up for that medium tank. Also I heard there is a product you can pour in your tank to protect it, someone said this stuff works.Caswell Inc. - Epoxy Gas Tank Sealer Not 100% but it may be worth looking into.

It is happening ALOT and this sucks to hear it's happening on a Hyper as I believe it's the same material used for the tanks on our 1200 Multis. I have had friends who are on their 2nd and 3rd tanks with Sport Classics and earlier Multis. There's no fix at the moment besides coating it with the Caswell which is supposed to but not guaranteed to work.

17.000 miles and 2 engines right ?

Thanks for the info. Always good to know.
One more reason to put our name on the list for the medium size tank.
