Diy Flywheel holder for 996
Like many have experienced besides me, the flywheel on 99-00 996 have a slight tendensy to brake loose and machine down the generator.
This happned to me and in the struggle to hold the flywheel I came up with the following simple solution for holding tool.
I used a tie down strap (the one you usually have for tieing down the bike during transportation, think it is 500kg kind).
Hooked one end to the frame, circled it around flywheel and other hand also to frame. Used fine wetgrindpaper between strap and flywheel for friction and whaaalllla! It worked! Reached the desired torque of 200Nm with out a problem.
Here is a sketch to further explain how it was done.
