Footpeg traction mod
So, I'm assuming that some of you guys out there are like me, in that you like the position, availability, and price of stock rearsets; but the traction on those suckers is just a joke!
No way was I going to muscle that bike around the track with footpegs that always feel like there's oil on 'em!
Here's my solution that turned those plain ol' stockers into the most amazingly grippy rearsets I've ever had! And all for only $20!!
It was done by Vortex spray on bedliner Here in New Braunfels 830-708-5217. They use a different kind of bedliner spray that is an polyurethane (sp?).
It sticks better, as a slightly rubbery feel (not gummy though), and allows for a very coarse finish that is the shit!!!
I highly recommend this modification, it is soooo worth it.

Oberon: Billet
These are more expensive and a little better looking IMO than your mod but a hell of a lot cheaper than aftermarket rearsets. I plan on doing a pair of the center pegs in the spring.

I'm quite serious... though I wouldn't recommend this mod for the starbucks riders.
"Dark Daddy" I looked at a pair of those exact pegs, and they were still not quite the level of grip I was looking for. Aesthetically pleasing, but I prefer function over form.
Perhaps this site is a bit too street oriented to really appreciate the benefit from a high level of grip on pegs. When was the last time you guys saw a motocross bike with CNC machined footpegs on it?

Try This
Here’s what I did. Use a Dremel and a cut-off wheel tool to cut slots into the foot pegs. Leave the edges sharp.

Starbuckstruck
While sitting at my favorite posing table, sipping a latte mocha jocha, I enjoy gazing at my sato ( super grippy ) rearsets. Hey man, nothing wrong with being creative and saving a few bucks, but Rhino Liner? Come on, get out the dremmel tool.

Well I think the use of imagination is great.
I have traded out the footpegs, or put on aftermarket rearset kits, on three of four Ducati's simply because the available traction in the wet sucks.
I have had my feet slip off the pegs on the track as well as on highway trips (to Beautiful BC)
The D16RR has crap pegs for wet weather, as well as dry!
Anyways, I have used a hack saw to cut a crosshatch design into the balls on the end of the pegs. Function over form.
Grippy pegs are very important to me as a safety issue based on practical experience.
I look at a bike and notice the pegs.

I put the Oberon race pegs on my bike and absolutely love them. For about $45 shipped they are WAY cheaper then the cheapest rear sets around.
Install was a breeze, they are a little bit longer then stock and provide much much more grip.
+10 for ingenuity
-10 for looks.
