I found the black plastic button and tried to pop it back in without success -- it seems the end of the "axial pin" is broken off the button (that fits into plastic pivot piece secured by the inside ankle / instep guard). Does not look like an easy fix as the ankle/instep guard is sewn into the boot, as is the inner boot lining. Seems like this plastic button is kind of flimsy and might pop off in a crash -- unless for some reason it's designed that way.
I hate to have to send this to California or wherever to get fixed, especially since I have a track day coming up that I want these boots for.
I was thinking I might fix it on a temporary basis by drilling out the center of the button and screwing it onto the ankle pivot piece with a short, squat wood screw.
Anyone have another (better) idea?
Thanks!

OK, I figured out a reasonable field repair for this until such time that I want to take the time to send the boot back to the factory for repairs:
Going through my can of misc. nuts, bolts, screws, washers, doodads, etc., I found a small plastic "ribbed wall anchor" that fit the hole in pivot piece. This is a little anchor you put in sheet rock whereby you drill a hole, stick the "ribbed wall anchor" in there, screw a little wood screw on the exposed end which causes the anchor to expand and the "ribs" to grip into the sheet rock. Found an old steel fender washer that fit perfectly in place of the missing "button." But since the anchor was a bit too long, I added a couple of brass washers from a broken lamp so that it would stay together snug, shoved the anchor holding the washers together and viola, it works. Not pretty, but serviceable.
