Leather 2 piece suit - pant waist is huge

I bought a AGV Sport 2 piece leather suit today from a buddy that I thought was about my size. The jacket fits fine but the pants have a waist that is seriously like 5 inches too big. The length of the pants is fine. Can that be altered? That's a lot of material to remove. Where would you go to get this kind of thing done. The local place on the corner for a business suit alteration? And I should say I searched the Web already for the pants to match but of course, they don't make them anymore. I dig the way the suit looks so I'd like to keep it a set but can this be done?

Found a place in Indiana called "Alteration Solutions" that has altered race suits for years. Went there today and they are cutting 8 inches out of these pants and fixing the elastic top and shortening the rise. Success.
