Retro jacket (pre 2009)

Anyone know where I could find the original retro jacket? The one with the distressed leather?

They occasionally pop up on eBay, but new ones are few and far between.

I agree that the 2009+ version isn't nearly as nice; it's a true black and has a grain to it whereas the jacket up to 2008 was more of a dark brown with a smooth finish.

Your best bet will be to find a gently used one on eBay.

Ducati has a few sizes still in stock even still. I had to get one from Houston Super Bike for one of my customers. Check with them or Commonwealth cycles. They are both known to buy deep when it comes to clothing and accessories.

Would someone care to point me to an image of both the jackets?
I'm not sure what the difference is between the two...

The Old Times jacket is armored. Historical isn't.

I assumed he was talking about the Historical jacket.

The difference in the leather is difficult to see in pictures

...but the colour is off... it's really more of a dark brown, or a brownish-black. Here is a close-up:

Besides the difference in the leather itself, the 2009+ has a small patch celebrating the 2007 MotoGP championship on the back near the top, and there are a couple of extra leather panels/seams on the front of the jacket prior to 2009, and the lether panels on the back are are little different.

Have you considered the Dainese vintage jacket?

It has a slightly different leather than the pre-09 jacket but looks very similar.

I own one and really love the look and quality. Could easily add your own patches to achieve the same look as the Ducati one
