Helmets Helmets Helmets.....

Im looking at getting a flat/matte black helmet in the price range of $150-$250 and i could use some info.

I like the Scorpion EXO-750 the best so far, dose anyone have experience with this helmet.

Also i thought about the O'Neal Fast Track II with bluetooth. Thinking it would be nice to hook up to the Iphone for music.

Do you guys have any helmets that you have had good experience with or would recommend to me in this price range?

Being the cheap bastard at times... I have been using the lesser EXO-400. I buy one a year, use it, put it on the shelf after a year. As cheap as they are, you dont get heart broken if it suffers an accidental fall. I do like the nice helmets... I just can't make myself buy one.

I just bought a Bell revolver, cycle gear had them for 60% off ($80), nice features, but i have not rode with it yet, just sat in front of the TV to check the fit.

I got a bell revolver rally in gloss black for Christmas from my better half. Have to say for the money 109.99 (she left the receipt in box for return in case it didn't fit my mellon) it's one of the best deals in helmets out there. I've owned way more expensive helmets that didn't fit as good or have the features this one has. It doesn't have blue tooth but the foam is premolded for a bluetooth setup includeing wire channels.(if you've ever used bluetooth/gmrs headsets for comms. in a helmet not cut or molded for it you know what a pain getting it to fit without creating pressure points it can be) It has lever actuated flip down sun shades, is a modular helmet with a very positive locking mechanism both open and closed. The visor seems like it would be easy to switch out. I haven't ridden in mine yet either, but it is way quieter than my old helmet while just sitting around the house looking goofy in it. I've owned arai helmets that were 5 x as much and weren't this nice. I'd definatly give it a look. And for less than you max dollar amount you could get the helmet and a bluetooth setup. My wife and son share a scorpion exo 500 for when they play passanger on my bike they both love it but I paid almost 4x as much for it and its not modular or cut for comm. systems but the cheek pads do pump up so it fits both of them. They both say it's way quiet in comparison to their off road helmets. but I think even my crappy hjc is quieter than their off road helmets. I have nothing bad to say about either company except that the scorpion seems a little light on features for the extra money. Neither is very heavy and both have really nice venting systems.

From what I've heard, the Scorpions are pretty good. I have a HJC FG-15 Prism(which is black/holographic finish, changes colour in the sun from different viewing angles), but they also have 'em in matte black. I crashed in one of these before, made a few tumbles and hit my head several times. Wasn't even aware of it, so that's why I bought it again.

Downside, the innards do get loose after a year, not significantly but it can be bothersome at times.

Anyway, most important thing to remember is to get a helmet that fits your head, not a helmet that you fancy because of the colors or name. A bad fitting helmet won't do you much good, wether you're riding or crashing.

Also, check this site to see how safe the helmet is. I've seen a few expensive helmets that weren't as safe as cheaper ones(they were more comfortable though).

SHARP Helmets - THE HELMET SAFETY SCHEME

I know at times I might sound a bit uptight, but good, safe gear is something you will appreciate after a crash.

I had question along the lines of a "helmets, helmets, helmets..." as well:

I'm looking to buy a new helmet. The helmet I'm most interested and looking to by is Arai Profile (specifically, Dynamic Red size Small). It's almost impossible to find that size and color combo, but I managed to do so and at $485. For you Arai gurus, does this seam like a good deal? Though I appreciate your opinion, I'm not interested in other brands / styles. I currently am rocking out Scorpion 700 and I after trying out Profile I instantly felt in love with that lid (comfort / size).

I am aware that Profile is a closeout model (being replaced by Signet v2), but after reading some info on upcoming Signet line, I decided to stick with the Profile instead.

Deal or No Deal?

I went on the Cycle Gear web site and they are $99 not $80 is there a coupon or an trik to get it for $80?

I've been riding with the Exo-750 for about a year and I have been very happy with it. It's kind of a jack of all trades helmet but master of none. For the price, I've been very happy and it's definitely comfortable to wear. It just has a lot of great features. I have no experience with the Bell helmets. I will say, however, that I tried on the Nexx XR1R for a ride and was blown away. The light weight and noise reduction of that helmet just blew me away. But then, that helmet retails for almost double what the Exo is.

Just pulled the trigger on a Nexx XR1R. I've never tried one on, so its a bit of a shot in the dark. I find Scorpions very comfortable, so its reassuring that you liked the Nexx so much. I'll report back when I get it in!

As for Bells, I tried on the new Bell Star and found the fit to be extremely comfortable - it put pressure on strange places on my cranium. Too bad, as the graphics are outstanding! Just for reference, I find Suomy and Scorpion to be comfortable helmets.

I will warn, however that the Nexx is a bit tighter than the Scorpion. I would still take a medium in the Nexx as I did wi the scorpion. The sound difference and the Exo 750.
