AGV Sport SP7 gloves

I was in Columbus two weeks ago for a long weekend away with the family and on the way home we swung by Iron Pony to look for a pair of warm weather gloves. It came down to the Alpinestars SP8 and the AGV Sport SP7. I left without buying because I just couldn't decide. In the end I got the AGV's because the had a cinch band around the wrist and the AStars did not.

I was going to order them from Pony but did one last search and found them at MotorcycleGear.com (formerly NewEnough) for almost half. I did pay shipping but no tax. UPS was dragging their feet as it took one week and two hours for them to make it from Texas to me (should have noticed that USPS Priority Mail was an option).

I ordered L even though I was borderline XL according to AGV's size chart. The L fit snugly but evenly everywhere and are already loosening up so I have high hopes for a perfect fit in the near term. Mine are all black without any silly graphics I loathe so.

They will be strictly warm weather though. They have perforation on the sides of all fingers and vents on the top of the first three fingers and they certainly do flow some air. I probably won't wear them below 65 degrees since my hands and fingers get cold easily.

The only thing I don't care for is the hard carbon shell over the base knuckles. I have a tendency to rest my hand(s) on the tank when at a stop and I'll surely scratch it if I don't pay attention.

The only thing I am concerned about is the gauntlet flap velcro closure. It seems a bit weak and I fear that it will give up the ghost long before the gloves themselves. Time will tell.

An update in a few months after putting some realy mileage on them.
