I've had a TomTom Rider 2 for a few years and like it, particularly when I'm touring on unfamiliar roads. With a quick glance, I get a general idea of what the road does over the crest of a hill or around a blind curve. Route planning is problematic (I use Tyre and would recommend it) if I want to follow a particular route. Newer units are smaller, lighter and much cheaper, but hey, it works and I know how to use it without fiddling around.
One thing the Tom Tom does NOT do is keep a log of your speed along a particular route. It will give you an average speed and a maximum, but that's not enough for what I'd like to do.
There are GPS receivers "out there" for track bikes that will give you a chart of your speed and keep your lap times. They ain't cheap and I'd rather spend the $$ on trackday fees. I have an Ipod touch (I swore I'd never have one, but resistance was futile

) that has GPS capabilities. There are enough GPS apps to make a person's head spin, but I haven't found one that would meet my needs.
Has anyone used (or even heard of) an app for an Ipod touch (or an iPhone, it's pretty much the same as far as apps go) that keeps track of path of travel AND speed? It doesn't have to be specifically designed for moto sports... but for all I know, someone has written an app that functions as a lap analyzer/timer! If not, someone should.
Thanks.
Dave
