Bell Star Helmet
If i put this in the wrong section, please move.
Ive asked this on a couple other forums but id like some more input.
I currently wear a Suomy Extreme but its 6 years old and time to be replaced. I ran across a helmet that I like a lot, but I dont know if I want to shell out $600 for a helmet I am unsure of.
Bell Star Cerwinske Carbon Helmet - RevZilla
I really like the new shield bell offers as well, a transitions shield. add another $100.
I can buy a Suomy Extreme for ~$400. So, Im really torn on what to do. Suomy Spec-1R Extreme Helmet - Double Gray | Buy at KneeDraggers.com
The bell is made in china, which im not a big fan of, but what isnt made there anymore...
If u have a Bell star, let me know how it is. Im going to order a helmet next week...

I don't have the Bell, but I have seen it and tried it on. It is extremely nice. The magnetic strap is a nice touch.
It may be made/assembled in China. This would not concern me. The quality of products made in China can be exceedingly high. It depends on the design and quality control exercised by the manufacturer. I expect Bell to do an excellent job on both.

I have a Bell Star and a AGV GP-Tech. The AGV fits me a little better so I wear it more often but if I know I'm going to be getting home when it's dark I'll wear the Bell lid with the transitions shield. I really wish all helmet manufacturers offered that shield, it's awesome.
The liner in the AGV is much nicer, probably the only complaint I have about the Bell. The AGV is also a lot quieter, probably just because it fits better though.
Ventilation on the Bell is great.
I really like the Carbon Cerwinske and have been tempted to pick one up for a while.

Hey Twisted,
Check with Motowheels, specifically Martin (Moto), as he has the Cerwinske helmet you are looking at and can tell you everything about it. I believe he had some for sale not too long ago, so it's worth a shot.

Motowheels no longer carry Bell. I asked and they informed me last week. They had the best price on that helmet. $585.

I've got 6 helmets, including 2 Bell Stars which are amongst my favorites (together with a Suomy Spec 1R)
The helmets are comfy and offer excellent ventilation. On top of that, they look cool and a bit more advanced in design compared to your average Shoei/Arai lid. Highly recommended, especially if you pick up one of the close-outs @ around 200$, you can't go wrong. I've got the RSD C-note (paid 199$ for it) and it looks like an 800$ helmet. Also comes with a nice bag and an extra set of cheek pads.

Thanks for the opinions. Ive had a few Suomy Extremes which I love. I dont like the side plates or the changing system, its terrible. very easy to not get the side plates snapped back in correct and lose them. and they are not cheap.
ive had agv and the shape was horrible for my head. ive never had a shoei or arai. id love to have an arai corsair v, but the only one i like is the Haslam replica that is $800. my budget is $600 right now. Shoei helmets have never really done anything for me...
the Bell is $200 more than the Suomy extreme I like, and another $100 for the transition shield. but, im leaning back towards the Bell now. Its different and the reviews seem to be excellent.

That 05 Snell Bell Star fits different and has a cheaper interior feel. Make sure you try them on first. The 2010 is def better all around at least for my intermediate oval head. New one feels nice and light with lots of ventilation. However you better use ear plugs for that reason!
BTW have you seen the new RS-1? Might be worth a look instead...
