Tailoring Dainese Sleeves

So, I got some new swag for the upcoming season. Biggest purchase was the Dainese Racing jacket. Great gear. Quality construction and typical Italian style.
BUT...I've got short stubby arms. The jacket is a 56 which fits great, even a little room for a liner or back protection, but the sleeves are about an inch too long.
Has anyone had their jackets tailored to take up any sleeve length issues? Is this even recommended?

Sure, just bring it in to you local tailor and get their opinion if they can do it. Taking it in is WAY easier then if it were to short.

It wont be a small job though as the inner liner. zipper, cuff, all will be modified. It's fairly easy for a a good tailor to do it.

Also, ask your local shop who they have repair their race leathers after a fall, usually that type of person can do it no problem.

Before taking it to a local tailor make sure to call and ask if they have plenty of experience with leather. Most tailors have machines that work with cloth, but leather is a different game.

If you can't find someone that works with leather, try a furrier... a local place that stores, sells, and tailors women's fur coats did mine.

Just make sure they take it in from the shoulder instead of just lopping an inch off the cuff or the precurved angle will be wrong (i.e. the elbow will be too low). That said, the shoulder seam is arguably the most important seam in the jacket, so find a tailor you trust. Make sure he double stitches that sumbitch with the heaviest nylon thread he's got.

Two places that are not too far from you that do exceptional work are IM leathers in Hamilton, On (http://www.yellowpages.ca/bus/Ontari...ds/803706.html) Ivan doesn't have a website that I can find, but builds lots of custom suits and jackets. I think he also builds fetish leather if that's your thing, but I'm not sure on that one.

The other one is John Bickle, (Bickle Racing) just east of Toronto. He does tons of work for the national seriess riders up here, his work is excellent. He has done repairs to my suits and the repairs have out lasted some of the original construction.

I would try to find a local shop that makes custom motorcycle 1pc suits. They probably have the machines to do the alterations and they also have the experience to do the stitching right. Stitching on a motorcycle jacket is not the same as your every day jacket.
