keep the Shoei. I have the RF-1100 Hadron in white, and it is by far the most comfortable helmet i have ever had on. I have had it for just about a year and it still looks brand new. Def worth the money.

It's all about the fit, my melon is "Shoei shaped" so when I put on a Scorpion there is a pressure spot that I know will drive me mad on a long trip, but I can probably put up with in around town.
If it's SNELL approved you should not worry about it, Mladin was using Scorpion in AMA, I'm sure his wasn't a $50 model, still, the difference is probably not as much safety aspect as weight.
Also I would not buy anything suspiciously cheap from eBay, there are lots of counterfeit items on there and no one is policing it, you could be buying a cheap copy that has all the right stickers but made by some crafty lowlifes that don't care if you split your noggin in a crash because they are thousands of miles away and safe from any local laws.

Suicidal: I agree it probably will look newer after awhile becuase it feels like it has stronger paint/clear coat, but that not something I would spend 7x the price for.
Dmitry: I guess I need to take both for a 1+ hr trip before I decide. I agree about eBay, I bought both from cyclegear.
I still don't know what to do, only reason right now I am debating to keep the shoei is because it seems like 99% off people on the track have either shoei or arai or something like that. They must know something I don't as to why they spend that much money on them.

it's a comfort thing. After a certain level most helmets will be on the same level of safety. I've had hjc, aria, shoei, and just picked up a suomy. The shoei's are great helmets though. My Rf1000 was stuid quiet compared to the rest.

i would say keep the Shoei...but the other one was only 50 bucks so keep it as a back up incase you bust your other helmet on the track.

Unless someone can show me something to convince me that one helmet is safer, I'd keep what fit me best.
