Any ideas on a good air compressor?

Searched online and found a previous thread about air compressors, but its a few year old and technology changes too fast, so thought I would open a new thread.

I'm looking for an air compress for inflating the tires on my bike and cars, then using it for the bicycles, sports equipment, etc.

I've read a million reviews and can't seem to find a good, solid model that falls within my price range. Lots of junk out there it seems!

I'm looking at an electric one, no oil, and it's staying in my garage. Price could be up to 250-300, I just want something that will work and not fall apart after a few months.

If anyone has one at home or in their shop, please let me know what you use and what you recommend.

Thanks!

compressor

If you will be using the compressor to fill tires and balls...go to Sears or HArbour Freight.
If you want a quality compressor then look in Craigslist for an older Craftsman,or commercial rig.
Todays Compressors are shit...they are built to a low level of quality due to china shit that we all buy cause of its price point.
Look for a Tradesman going out of business ..or a grarage going out of business.
The older Cast Iron compressors were built to run a lifetime.....at 100% duty cycle.
Todays cheapos are rated for 25-50% duty cycle...if you run them too much they will fail.
I have an older 25 or 30 gallon Porter Cable 5HP that has worked well for me...I paid 400.00 for it at Home Depot some years ago..
Hope this helped.

If you're not running pneumatic tools, why not just stick with a super cheap air pump? I just noted in another thread that the Slime Motosports inflator is working well for me. $30 from Amazon and connects to a Tender lead.

There's an old MCN article around that voted it a best buy for what it is.

I've always wanted a serious air compressor, but I just don't need to use one often enough. Hell, I've been able to seat tire beads with a bicycle pump.

Have a good one.
