Help me choose gloves?
I'm leaning towards Alpinestars GP pro or GP plus gloves, but can't tell much difference between them to warrant the extra 40 bucks other than the plastic cuff on the pro model.
Anybody familiar with these that can give opinions? I'm open to other possibilities also, but they will be for the track so I want something high quality. Not terribly concerned about the price, but have been looking in the $150-$250 range.
Thanks for any input!

I bought a pair of the more expensive gloves (GP Pro's?) and found that they fit kind of small. I have a relatively average hand size (9" circumference) and ended up getting the less expensive Alpinestars which fit better in the same size. Go figure. Having said that the AStars were the best gloves I ever had.

I have had a couple sets of GP Pros, but they do run small, I am usually between a L and XL, but with GP Pros I am a XXL

i have the GP pro. i agree the sizing is funny, so try them on or make sure you can exchange from where you buy them. but i love them they are great. i will never have another glove. (except of course replacing them with another set or GP Pros.)
and if there is any doubt as to whether the extra 40 bucks is worth it. read my sig. and you decide if trying to piece them (your hands) back together is worth it.

The sizing was my next question. I've read everywhere that they run small.
I'm normally between a medium and large, so I guess I should try the L or even XL.

IIRC one of the two has a flimsy goat skin palm... get the one that has cowhide.

I had a pair of Racer High End gloves that I bought from Motowheels a few years ago. They had the goatskin palm and inner thumb. Went down at about 35 mph and slid about 20 ft. The goatskin wore through in a heartbeat. I have no idea why Motowheels still sells them.

Goat skin is useless... cowhide is where it's at... or kangaroo if you wanna go lightweight.

Held
Kangaroo. I did a 40-50 mph lowside at the track in Sept., and the palms are fine (dumb me slid on my butt with my hands down to slow down ). Held cost more and they are worth every penny.
