Unfortunately Lanzi didn’t seem to be cutting it, so it’s nice to see some new blood. Deep down I was hoping for Xaus... Now what about the AMA Superbike or is that going to wait until 2009?

Vito,
I suspect we will wait until 2009 for that one.....

Now tell us how you really feel about the AMA Not sure the whole tie in with your soccer experience but ok...
I'll agree there is a big difference in talent, bikes in the AMA superbike and that with Suzuki kicking everyones butts it is boring. I'll agree the Speed channel is lame. I won't agree that there is no talent, I'll put Mladin, Spies to name a few against anyone is BSB. No comment on Japanese SBK since I've never watched. Nuts doesn't always equal talent

I'll trust you on the soccer thing, since my experience has been watching my d daughter (15 years old who plays for fun since she played her first game at 13) play and watching a few pro games a year.

I don't think there is much difference if you really look at WSBK, top 4 or 5 (Haga, Bayliss, Toseland, Corser, Biaggi) are racing for the win, the rest are filler material.
Maybe the general USA population doesn't care about motorcycles let alone racing but if you look at the club/amateur racing scene it's big here with plenty of talent. Many of which have made it big in national and world stage of over the years. Talent is always debatable.
Having raced on a number of tracks in the southeast, and southcentral region of the USA they are sub standard compared WSBK and MotoGP and I'll venture to say track amateurs in Europe race on. To your point we don't have the support at the highest level like NASCAR because tv rating, dollar rule.
For AMA Superbike races a rider’s best lap time must be within 108% of the fastest qualifying rider’s best lap time in order to pre-qualify for one of the available grid positions in the final. There are some provisional start allowed for previous season top ten riders.

beckhem is 2nd rate always has been.
as for the privateers, those teams in wsbk are at least supported in some fashion....here its just some dude with a bike out there racing. which is not entertaining at all. and have their own series for tires and decals...i can play need for speed to get all that!!!
overall its just wack wack wack!!! and even though mladin wins every year in the ama...that doesnt deter me, its like going to a club, either they play your music or they play crap....here they play crap!!!

LOL!
Well how do you REALLY feel?
I know a nice eel in Naha I can introduce you to....
And when it comes to opinions, well, we all have one.
And my opinion is soccer, football, baseball, cricket, etc, THEY ALL SUCK.
I would rather watch wankers in the AMA than ANY soccer.
So where is that popcorn????

Motorcycle road racing will never be an American sport. Neither will soccer.

Having lived in Okinawa (thus the Naha reference), and spent a lot of time in Japan, there ARE fat japanese people.
Other than Sumo of course....
Just not as bad as U.S., but I think it is a sugar conspiracy!
But since I am 6 ft 4 in and 200 lbs, I would hardly say that I am fat.
AMA is a 9th rate hack sport, but it is better than watching the Texas Rangers play "ball"....LOL!
I just hope Ducati can get the ruling their way and get back in.
And with Stoner on the case (ahh, I am so PUNNY!), everyone scrambles for third on down....
That leaves 250 GP and WSBK to get excited about.
So I am with Vito, is Ducati going to make AMA something to watch?
