Going to Indy need advise

My wife and I want to buy tickets to Indy. I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions as far as seating. We want something with reserved seats. Any input from someone that has gone before would be appreciated. Thanks

I went in 2010. I had reserved seats in NorthWestVista in the very top row - they cost extra but were worth it to get the maximum view. The grandstands there were sparsely filled, but the top 2 rows were sold out. The attendants regularly came by and checked tickets and then kicked out those who were poaching. From there you could see down the entire main straight, and pretty much the entire northern area of the track. If I were to go again, I would either get the same seats, or the equivalent to the south.

Saturday night downtown was crazy! Do not miss it.

I enjoyed going, but will not go back. Boring, flat track. This year I am going to Laguna Seca (home track) and Misano. Phillip Island was excellent (2008). Hope to go to Aragorn someday.

I also sat at the North end of the track in section J. Good seats, as stated you can see them coming into the front straight and coming out of the back straight. If I was to go again, I think I would try section E or the SE Vista, so you would see and hear them going down the gears to turn 1 thru 5. Make sure you buy a paddock pass. Have a good time.

Speaking of hotels, I stayed at the Radison - about 30 minutes from the track. Kind of a dump, but okay for 3 nights. Gresini was also staying there. Monday morning at breakfast Marco Simoncelli was there waiting at the toaster. My friend and I went over to talk to him. I asked him if he was worried when Bautista started catching him at the end, because he might try to take him out in retaliation for their 250 encounters. He replied "I think Alvaro is more afraid of me than I am of him". He was very friendly and fun to converse with. Hurts now just thinking about it.

Thanks for the feed back. Yeah we'll probably get the south west vista deck.

GP indy 2012

walking inside the infield is great to, you get some close ups views with them coming off the back straight, and thru the chicane, I raced there last year, the track had little traction. Should be fun again this year!

He has time. I booked my hotel 2 months out at the downtown Marriott. Plenty of time.

I've attended every year. First year, general admission with Hurricane Ike. Second and third, I had seats in Penthouse B (sort of like nosebleeds in an arena). Last year, I had seats in the Southwest Vista (closer to racing with a good view of turns 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5- my favorite so far). Seats are reserved only on Sunday so Friday and Saturday you can sit or stand anywhere you'd like. Understand that there's a big gamer's convention downtown on GP weekend so getting a room there may be a problem. Reserve ASAP. If you can't, you should still ride down there on Friday or Saturday night for "Motorcycles on Meridian" and attend the Indy Mile on Saturday night at the fairgrounds. It's a great weekend.

My wife's aunt lives 20 minutes away were staying with her and she's watching my kids so were pretty lucky. We got Southwest vista deck tickets online. It's our first GP so were pretty excited.
