I would be surprised if most informed people thought otherwise. The end of season testing put them over 2 seconds behind - I would have hoped and expected they may have clawed back at least a second over the past few months.

I for one am not expecting them to be close to the front. For the same reason stated in the article. I think they will need more time to dial this bike in compared to Honda and Yamaha. I hope it only takes two or three races to get it together and be on the podium again.

If anything I think last seasons failure is going to give him that edge he needs this season. Kinda like when Rocky fought Clubber Lang the second time. Just need the Gp12 to be more competitive than last year. After his crash in 2010 he made a great come back with the M1and showed that he still had the balls. He just couldn't adapt to the Ducati as it was last year. Time will tell though. I think I'm going to order the Motogp video pass. This year is going to be interesting.

In the past Rossi had ultimate self belief and the best handling bike which made him feel invincible when fighting "lesser men" especially on corner entry, his strong suit.
I don't think he has that self belief anymore now some others have good machinery and have shown they have the confidence to take him on, encouraged by their own solid performances.
He is in a new head space now the younger blokes are no longer intimidated by him.

true but it's a moving target, you can bet Yamaha and Honda haven't been sleeping. Think Ducati just don't want to raise expectations yet at the same time calling the bike the Phoenix... time will tell or as they say when the flag drops the bullshit stops

i really really hope that ducati get their shit sorted .. whilst i want Stoner to win , it becomes a bit hollow if there are only a few competitive bikes on the grid....
