I grew up with the IOM racers as my contemporary heros and since a certain racer who didn't have the balls to go there had it taken off the GP circuit on "safety grounds" have lost a lot of interest in so called "road racing"
Hailwood, when asked about safety issues replied simply "The twist grip works both ways"
MotoGp is now nothing more than a sanitised track circus spectacle where people still get hurt but has lost the spirit of the game and is all about money but is fast loosing it's way due to Dorna's meddling with a concept they can only understand in dollar terms.
Agostini, Hailwood, Dunlop, Read, Minter, Redman, Surtees...these blokes rode with their heads not their ambitions.
Thank god there is still such a place where the real world still exists and legends like Ian Hutchinson and John Mcguinness can make us mere mortals feel so ordinary and awe inspired by their courage and skill.
