I've never wanted to go to Jersey so bad before.......and I grew up in Connecticut.
I think it will be a great time to visit the relatives and take a little side trip.

A NJ friend who is a Lotus nut and I went to the Detroit F1 races in '87 and '88. Had a great time.
The two of us will be there.

I think it's great for F-1 and for the city. Street courses often suck because they are bumpy quite narrow with next to no run off. The racing tends to be processional. Having said that they draw huge crowds who take in the party atmosphere downtown as opposed to the boonies. While they might not follow another race all year (the Indy car experience) they will come and spend money. Sorry to say the Detroit and Vegas races were a F-1 low point but glad you guys had fun, which in the end is what it's all about. A race with NYC skyline as a backdrop, how cool is that Europe?

Will there ever be an F1 in Jersey? ( see link below). I have lived here most of my life and I never in a million years saw this coming to Jersey of all places.

Screw another street track & Jersey. I rather go to Austin or Canada for F1.

I can't wait I'm 30mins from the reported NJ F1 course. I just can't imagine where and how the spectators are going to watch this race? There will be nowhere to park, stand, even sit?

I have read couple articles which will probably find later (still at work and dead tired) from what I understand the track will go through Imperial Port, will have some elevation changes and have some straights and hair pin turns, like larger version of Monaco. Entire surface will be repaved, temporary barriers and stands will be brought in for the race and also some permanent building will be built at no cost to taxpayers. One thing to consider, they have at least 15 million population with in a reach of public transport, if only 1% decides to attend (150 thousand) they will need a bigger track!
Weather Bernie is in charge at that point should have no impact on the race, most of the tams (Merc, Ferrari) want to come to US because it's their largest market, so if Mr Bribe gets booted and teams take larger portion of control of F1 as article alleges, race should still go on, perhaps after some arm twisting, still I see no reason for them to bail.
I might do Montreal next year, always wanted to go but the track is not the greatest for spectating in person, only 300 miles away but always something comes up same weekend and I never went. One thing for sure, if NJ is ON I'm there! Got a place to stay probably with in walking distance of the track, can ride a bike there if I want to.
