Bombshell: Rossi Injured, can't partake in final test of year

Valentino Rossi's fall in the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday was not without consequences, although the initial examination suggested otherwise. Due to the severity of the pain and swelling in his left hand, the Italian on Tuesday underwent additional X-rays that revealed a hairlinefracture at the arthrodesis of the first and second phalanx (performed following a fall at Assen in 1995) of the pinky finger on his left hand. Rossi's participation in the Australian Grand Prix on October 16 is not in doubt.

Tomorrow, Thursday 6 October, Nicky Hayden will test the GP12 at Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, using the last of eight days the team is allowed with the 2012 bike.

This has got to be the worst year ever for the Ducati GP program. It is certainly the worst year ever for Rossi in his entire professional racing career. I am certain all of them can't wait for this year to end and look towards next season.

If I remember right, Baylis had a similar injury once. He had the finger removed so he could race the next round.

Italians are pussies

I think Troy also has to have his balls in the sling as the pinkie injury was the least of his worries after that wall

no kidding....look at Capirossi resorting to using doctor's notes so he can stay off the grid.

I though Bayliss actually tore up his finger pretty good and had it removed (like Ronnie Lott did in the 80's).....which is a bit different than having a hairline fracture and cutting off a finger. That is like cutting of your nose at 13 years old when the pimples start pouring in!!
