AMA NJMP tickets-sticker shock.....
I wanted to take my family down to see the last AMA race of the season at NJMP. My twin boys are 6 yrs. old....myself and my wife.....$160.00
To me this is way too expensive.....no child under XX rate, no discounts , nothing....plus $5 to park. I rode my 999 down there 2 years ago and IIRC it wasn't very expensive to bring the family down....so this year we decided to go.... now I'm not so sure that we are....it's alot of cash for 1 day of racing....
The year I went, 2009..it was packed....now last year my buddies said it was empty....I would love to contribute to the guys and watch it in person, but I doubt I'll be heading down.
Does the AMA have a set blanket price that covers all the tracks or does each individual track negotiate the price with the AMA..I just don't recall it being that expensive 2 years ago...
Comments....

That's ridiculous, we pay $140.00 per adult for 3 days of WSB at Phillip Island & only a little more at MotoGP time, I didn't have to pay last year so I am not sure of exact price.

So $40 per person is too steep? Those are the same prices that one day tickets have cost out here for like the last 15 years...

At what age does $40 become appropriate for you? There is no Discounted/tiered pricing structure for kids in MotoGP or WSBK AFAIK it is all general admission, so I am having a hard time understanding the problem here. If I want to take my 3 year old to the Laguna Seca MotoGP I need to buy him a General Admission ticket which would cost me the same as my ticket, so the practice is no different than other general admission events.

Ahhmmm, not so Rob.
MotoGP at Laguna, kids under 12 were free GA.
You paid for extras (like grandstand seating), but not for general admission.
In case you wanna take your kids next year
Back to your regularly scheduled program...

Not to mention we are comparing AMA to Moto GP now? I tell ya I am always willing to pay more to see MotoGP than AMA anyday of the year since it is the top level class of Motorcycle racing. AMA is certainly not.
I went to NJM in '09 and last year for the AMA race weekend. In 2009 the place was packed last year it was nearly empty. Gee I wounder why

I stand corrected.
Still not going to take the kid until he can ride in on a bike though, nothing will make me ride the bus in!

Took my then 22 month old (now almost 3) to Watkins Glen Indy race last year and he got in free, I paid $45 for myself and didn't think it was too much.
This year Indy cars weren't there and Phish was playing at the track whole weekend, tickets were $210!! Now that's sticker shock.
Have not been to AMA event since they left Loudon, but back then IIRC it was $60 for the weekend including pit pass.

AMA Roadracing should be honored ya'll even know it exists! They should be sending out free tickets to people who live in the area so that more then a few thousand people (including racers/teams/families) show up for the events.
It is ridiculous to spend $100 bux to see a race.
The most I've spent is $75 for the best seats in the house for a supercross event and I would do that again in a heart beat. Forty-five thousand people in a stadium screaming at one time as bikes fly through the air! WOW, I mean screw roadracing live. What do you see, a few bikes fly by every 2 minutes? It is that mentality that keeps people from going to AMA Roadracing events and that will never change.
