Mid Ohio VS Indy Track?

I have been to several Mid Ohio bike races and I like the fact that you can walk around the track and see the race from different points.

For those of you that have been to the Moto GP at Indy can you walk around the track or do you have to sit in one place for the entire race?

Thanks

You can walk around all you want. Lots of fantastic viewing points once you get into the track.

Indy sucks...its for cars. Most of the tracks used for bikes in America suck. Oval infield configs'...?...its a Nascar nation with bikes taking a back seat.

Rocket has it right. Lots of great places to watch in the infield.

For the race I like the grandstands that face the last turn. Jumbo tron is a must.

Do not miss the museum.

It's a lot more walking than Mid-O but it can definitely be done. Of course most tracks are more walking than Mid-O.

+1 thats why when I want to see a Moto GP race I goto Laguna Seca. At least thats a REAL road coarse. I went to Indy in '08 and did not like it. Not to mention the riding around Laguna is way better i.e. Pacific Hwy1. You ain't getting that kind of scenery anywhere near Indy. LOL

It's heaven on earth!!!

Ok I'll give my 2 cents! I live in Indy and yes the road course sucks and Mid Ohio is much better by far. BUT I guess I look at the whole package, I love Indy for what it is and the riders will say it's not their favorite track to race on. But on the other hand they will say they love coming here, figure that? Got to be something they like, I think their looking at the whole package. I remember back a few years ago Michael Schumacher was quoted as saying it wasn't his favorite track to race on but he loved coming here. He said it was the best setup of all the tracks at the time in F1. He also said the track may not be the best to his liking, but just to be there was worth it and he loved it and the city. I think it's a shame, places like Mid Ohio doesn't have the bucks to bring races like MotoGP or F1. Way to many great tracks out there that just doesn't have the funding to to bring them in. To add to Indy, Mario Andretti was asked about the tracks lay out one year when F1 was here and what his thought was of it. He said that he knew the layout wasn't set is stone, that if F1 or any other forum roading racing took hold at the Speedway, the Speedway had plans for a different layout which was going to make it longer and would take it outside the oval and back in. According to Mario he had seen the plans, but now that F1 is gone, who knows if that will ever happen. There was alot of talk when F1 was here of bringing a 24 hour race here and it's popped up again a few times. I agree, Mid Ohio is a great track and a lot of fun, but tracks are like people, they have their own personallity. Oh one more thing to add, we didn't LOSE F1, the Speedway said no to Bernie. I think the number the first year was like $15 million to host the race and then on the last year he wanted $50 million from the Speedway and they said shove it! The Speedway lost money to host F1, BUT the city of Indianapolis made a ton. The number was like a $100 million in revenue that one weekend. They said it was more than NASCAR and the 500 combined and more than whole season of the Colts and the Pacers in revenue. Now if a city made that much money a single weekend off F1, wouldn't you think Indianapolis would helped the Speedway keep F1? NOPE! I wrote the Mayor's office because he was quoted of saying it and said, YOU SUCK, what are you thinking? Alot of countries pay to bring F1 to their city, like Austin is doing and their being smart. But the Speedway was paying it out of their pocket, not the city of Indianapolis. So with this said unless the a state or city is willing to pay the money, tracks like Mid Ohio may never see a race like Moto GP or F1. Thats shame!

OK I'm off my box and I do think Mid Ohio is a much better layout.

Nor wide enough, 'safe' enough, 'accessible' enough, or have enough 'approved facilities' to host an F1 or MotoGp event.
