Ducati is building an aluminum frame

Well it looks like Ducati has farmed out the production for a new aluminum frame to a third party chassis builder with "many years of experience".

I thought they might do something like this, considering they've got zero experience with aluminum frames. Any guesses as to who they've contracted the work out to? I wonder whatever happened to WCM (remember redbull yamaha from the 500's?)... I just hope they're not going with Suter.

Rossi is doing exactly what he said he wouldn't do. Turn the Duc into an M1.

Not that I care, in Moto GP I just want to see them win

Would be interesting to see if they will still do the engine as stressed member deal or an alum box style.

Wouldn't this be kind-of a Bimota thing? They build bike chassis and use someone else's motor....seems like they'd be a perfect fit. Obviously they have a working relationship with Ducati - not that pierobon doesn't.

A Ducati/Bimota GP bike? Now that would be really cool!!! I doubt it though.

I'm not saying they'd have to have their name prominently on the bike...just that they have the experience to do it. I'm sure pierobon could do it as well. I wonder how much that is going to cost Ducati? probably less than if they did it themselves.

I realize pierobon and Bimota both have experience building primarily steel frames and swingarms for superbike applications, but do they really have the experience for GP bikes?
