But hang on, Hayden says it's a weapon

Ducati is kind of like the Ferrari of motorcycles. What's it like racing for a team like Ducati?

Like you say, Ferrari and Ducati kind of have that Italian swag, and it's a very unique bike, it's a very special bike with a lot of history. They just don't produce thousands and thousands of bikes. It's a small, small company that puts everything into their bikes and produce only road bikes, and I've learned a lot. The team is awesome. I mean, they love their bikes and love their team, and when you're in Italy you feel it. Everybody, from the people at the grocery store to the guys at the gas station, they're all behind you. This year hasn't been an easy year for us, but we know our bike is good and sometimes it's a little bit sharp, you get it outside that area that's the sweet spot and it makes for a long day, but when you get it on the sweet spot you know it's an absolute weapon. Hopefully when we come back here in three weeks we'll have it dialed in. We race the Czech Republic next and then we have a big test after the race, which is going to be really important for us to hopefully find something and get us teed up for a big weekend at Indy.

Who is telling the truth here?

I love Nicky, but he's drinking the Kool-Aid, we all see how well Checa is doing on the "Antique" and how poorly Nicky and Rossi are on the state of the art. Nicky is very appreciative of his position with Ducati, and being signed through next year Ducati is hoping the 1000cc machine suits the dirt track style of Nicky better.

Now "a weapon", ya against it's own riders.

I think Ducati keeps Nicky around to keep the Ducati brand in front of Americans. But I'm a bit harsh I suppose.

Here is the link. Also a video of him riding around IMS on an 1198.

I think Hayden as a person, appears kinda cool. Very laid back. I like that.

But his continual role at Ducati is purely based on marketing.
He has not had any real success on the Ducati... seriously. He had more at Honda.
Yet he keeps his place on that team because Americans love to see one of their kind riding that bike. Nothing wrong with that, at a marketing level, but there comes a time...

Hayden will say anything, and do anything, on a marketing level to please his audience. He's taken an employee approach. That's how you keep you job.

I'd like to see Nicky on a better bike, where he can finish consistently 3rd and win the championship.

That's what I thought, so the American, Nicky Hayden must be telling us all the truth, they just need to dial the weapon in.

I'm f**king glad I'm not him, hanging by my balls waiting for that to happen!
