SP.....KTM to race DMG Superbike in 2012
.....KTM annouced says SP, that they will run their RC8 Superbike in the DMG Superbike series beginning in 2012. The team will be run by Mitch Hansen(Former Ducati guy)....
....Now we need Pegram or someone to run the new "Superquadrata or Extreme" in DMG Superbike next year.....this is just what DMG/AMA needed. Can you imagine a grid comprised of Honda, Suzuki,Kawasaki, Yamaha, Ducati, Buell, KTM....holy shit....would that be an exciting series...
**** note to Pegram, you're not any faster or better on the BMW(if anyone who watched the "Superbike Family" on Discovery HDTV, Larry complained that he didn't have enough HP, now he does and does no better)....dust off the 1198 or buy a couple "Extremes" next year....then at least you'll be on a Ducati!

According to RRW, they will be testing the RC8 in races this year starting at Mid Ohio which I think is in a few weeks. The goal is to do a few rounds, judge the bikes potential and discuss next season.
FBF has already announced they will try to run a new Ducati in 2012 as well, I hope its the new bike.
It doesn't make any difference, yep its nice to see diversity, but AMA is just a televised club race. What really counts is if KTM can put something together for World Superstock, which is what they've been trying to do. The whole KTM cup thing didn't work out so well, its now the 848 cup and has been for a while. So I don't understand KTM's reluctance or shall I say all of a sudden support of racing RC8's in roadracing. Obviously this AMA team isn't sponsored by KTM, but its an interesting idea!
As much as I personally dislike the KTM RC8, you can't deny the fact we need more diversity around.

Couldn't KTM run the RC8 in the Daytona Superbike class the way Buell ran the 1125 before Buell went away? They'd stomp everybody (the way Ducati is with the 848) and it would be great publicity.

...I'm going down to FBF and pick up some parts, I'll ask what's up w/ AMA Superbike in 2012.
.....Well it does make a difference Tye. America needs to maintain top notch racing series.....and over the last few years it's been far less than top notch.
I personally would hate to see AMA/DMG disappear....as Chuck said, it is/has become almost an irrelevant series along w/ the Daytona 200. IMO DMG needs to find better venues to host the series, new places that will attract new and old fans wanting to see the racing in person..
I remember 2 yaers ago I went to NJMP to see the AMA races...it was packed w/ folks and it wasn't even race day.....I understand last year's race wasn't very crowded at all....so who knows...
I believe you put a diverse field comprised of all the brands, followed up by the big 4 returning to AMA might be the key to a quick recovery.

When you watch world superbike, BSB, MotoGP and other racing series, what do you see different?
They all have BIG sponsors.
AMA/DMG literally told the big sponsors to go F themselves.
You can't run a successful series without ONE BIG sponsor; Honda, Toyota, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Aprilia, KTM, Ducati, etc... It only takes one, but AMA/DMG has none and they like it that way because they can dictate rules.
If you wanna know more about why the AMA roadracing series is dead on the vine, read the rule book. They have a list of authorized parts to use, they TELL YOU what parts you can use on your bike and where you can get them from. WTF??? So your buddy makes nice subframes for your R1, can't use it, not on the list. Try to save money by using used parts or something, can't use those either. This is just one example of how the series sucks balls.
Mark my words, AMA/DMG will either DIE or re-vamp itself in some way. But with their current attitude, nothing is going to change.

Just to touch on a few of your "points". The big difference between DMG and Moto GP this year has been one series has great racing.... DMG, racing has been great in all classes, I'd go on a limb and say Daytona Sportbike has been the funnest races to watch this year out of any series. They also got a very positive response from the wsbk guys @ miller. The wsbk guys really talked up the series and riders, but what do they know......
Second, Filmore raced that KTM last year, and it was good on a club level but not good enough to be competitive in a pro series, they did some development and thus the bike is better. They also have limited funds, they're a very small company when you compare them to the big four, they can't just dump $$ into a program that wouldn't see benefits for sometime. They'll do well, but wouldn't count on that bike being up front.
DMG homologated all of the typical parts used by racers, by the typical brands all racers use. They don't MAKE anyone use anything, they did this so teams with huge $$$ couldn't use all the trick parts 90% of the field couldn't afford, which has in turn made for much better racing..... AMA/DMG def has their flaws, but their not a communist regiem, but they're steadily improving....
now back to your regularly scheduled program...
