Could you hang in GP?

I'm curious about something. AND...this is all hypothetical, but, Let's say I came up to you and gave you five million dollars to purchase, prepare, and race a MotoGP bike. All you have to do is race ONE race. I'd give you a year to get a team together, and test at whichever track you choose, whenever you want, which would be the same one that you would choose to race at.

Could you do it? Could you hang...let's say...even mid-pack, in a MotoGP race?

Here's MY answer for ME: Hell no.

Anyone?

Yes, I could hang as well as Randy Depuniet this year. Or I would perform a Roman-pedo on someone as I over cooked turn 1

I honestly think that I could give it a descent run. If I could quit my job and devote all of my time to racing and training, and dialing in a bike-I feel as though I could place decently in one race. Remember, this is training for ONE race over the course of a year and doing nothing else.

To be able to train for only one track and familiarize myself with nearly every square inch of it, every twist, dive, crest, flat, nuance, everything- should be at least attemptable.

Finding a good crew to invest in and support you would be a great feat in and of itself. It takes endorsed clubs years to formulate know how and personality to meld together into a promising formula.

Research and development is a tireless process as well. But to do all of that for just ONE race?

Wow. Having just thought about it while typing, I don't have enough confidence to take 5 million away from someone and promise a great run. There are too many factors. I believe in my heart that I could finish at least in the middle.

However, who wants to finish in the middle? The consecutive top 10 riders, well, all of them have devoted a lifetime to the craft. It is tough to compete with experience, no matter the size of the bank.

Wow. Good answers. I figured this thread would die a horrible death.

One guy said "eff it. I'll try it."

The next said "Probably so, even though...."

the next said "I'd be lapped seven times."

All honest answers. Good stuff.

OOPS! left out the 'turn 1' crasher.
