Rossi vs Stoner and the GP11

2011 MotoGP Assen Wednesday Round Up: The Ducati GP11.1, Or Rossi vs Stoner | MotoMatters.com | Kropotkin Thinks

I think this is very interesting read from MotoMatters.com. Rossi basically says that the GP11 is a heap of crap and it's Stoners fault that it ended up this way:

"Stoner was riding the bike in a very good way," Rossi conceded, but the bike had not been developing in the right direction, and the results of the Ducati had got worse every year. "I think this bike is at the end of it's development, and with the new bike, we will have a lot more space to improve the bike."

The GP12 (hopefully GP11.1) is now his bike:

"The GP12 is much more stable, it puts a different pressure on the front, and gives me a better feeling on the front side of the bike. I have less movement in acceleration and I can create also more rear grip compared to the other bike," Rossi said. Will it work though? "Is a risk! Is a risk this bike is no good with the 800 engine, but when you need to recover, you need to take a risk."

Stoner also thinks the change to the GP11.1 is not legal:

"If they're using parts this year that are going to be on next year's bike, I'm not sure this is allowed,"

Anyhow, thought i'd start a new thread since the GP11.1 thread has run it's course.

this is MotoGP's way of explaining it per the rule-book...

Ducati is a confused company right now, they're running around in circles trying to put out fires because all they wanted to do was build the most technologically advanced bike on the grid! Rossi finally see's that bullshit and is calling them out on it. I'm sure behind the scenes, the discussions are very heated and in my opinion, they are going nowhere.

I could be wrong, but even Rossi said the 11.1 chassis ain't the answer, even though its the same chassis they have been successfully testing with the bigger motor! Umm, that would give me the assumption that either the bigger motor weighs a considerable amount more then the 800 OR the bigger motor 2012 bike doesn't work as well as Rossi is letting on. Perhaps its just how you ride the bike and as I said on the other thread with this same subject, riding a liter bike is very different then riding an 800, if you got the motor, you can simply out-motor your competition. Stoner did it in 07, I think Rossi will do it in 2012*.

* Thats not me saying Rossi has any chance at winning a championship, thats just me saying the bike will be MUCH better because carrying as much corner speed as possible mid corner won't be as necessary.

Well if anyone was wondering as to why there is still so much conversation here at the .ms race section with the name Casey Stoner in it, well this thread is living proof that it's not us Aussies that keep bringing him into the discussion, but more so, it's because of what I've said all along. He's a big part of MotoGP, and his name will pop up just as much as Rossi's when discussing the Ducati and MotoGP.

Moving on.

I really enjoyed the discussions after those articles and especially the term; "spirit of the rules", that kept popping up.
Ducati isn't breaking any written rule running their 2012 frame in the GP11.1. Wether they are pushing the boundaries of the 'spirit of the rules' doesn't really matter either.
As Tye suggested, Ducati are desperate at this point and really need to pull a rabbit out of their arse. I don't have a problem with them trying a new bike at round seven of the season, and are looking forward to this GP11.1 and seeing what Burgess, Rossi, and the new budget, have created.
It could be a massive disaster, but it's a risk Ducati need to take. At least they're f*cking doing something this year to possibly improve the bike!

Rossi's performance this year has been quite poor, and he's blamed the bike. Ducati have responded and have built him a new bike. Kind of reminds me of the last few years when Stoner was complaining about the state of the bike. But Stoner got 'jack shit' from Ducati in return.
What he did get though came mainly from his critics, when they continually labelled him a whiner, whinger, cry baby, etc. Yet I haven't heard those kinda words being directed at Rossi. How f*cking unusual...

Rossi had better improve his times on this 'new' bike otherwise Ducati are really pissing there time and money away developing a bike for this year at round seven, when really, they should be staying focussed on 2012.

It seems ducati, Rossi, burgess and team are going all out to turn things around .I hope they will be successful so Rossi and stoner can battle it out on the track.

I think it was Nicky Hayden that said "If Ducati don't build a winning bike for Rossi, the fans will burn the factory down!."
Hayden said that when it was announced Rossi had signed with Ducati.
The pressure is really on for Ducati!!!!!
I don't think he is too far wrong with that either.

We shall see what happens. It will be interesting, either way.

It's all about the way one goes about it tard. There's offering constructive criticism, and there's whinging. Take your pick
