WSBK Aragon ~Spoiler~
Here it is Monday after the race and not a word about Aragon!
Race one and Checa pitches it into the Spanish soil! Max and Marco took full advantage getting back maximum points. Max's rear tire was shagged and I am surprised he did as well as he did considering how bad it looked on camera.
Race two and Biaggi got it rolling. Max finally got a win in, can he get some momentum? We are heading to Brno next where he typically does very well. Next four rounds are big HP tracks which shouldn't suit the Ducati. Checa could come out the other end very tight in the points race, even if he does everything right. Could get interesting from here.

too bad for Checa...but it was bound to happen. I am gald Biaggi had a solid weekend to bring in the points gap. IMO there is nothing worse than a runaway title.
I am glad Melandri is riding at the front as a "rookie"....but these ex GP guys are up front most of the time in this field

It certainly bolsters the argument that the best racers are in the motogp series, when the world superbike series is being dominated by ex-gp guys doesn't it?

..Yeah, not much going on w/ WSBK Aragon....great track though, holy cow!
It seemed to me that Martin was asleep for race #1 as it appeared that Melandri checked up in the corner and Checa broke hard to avoid running into him....Martin said that Checa's rear tire stepped out....wasn't very exciting...I was hoping that Checa would reel Melandri in like a big Marlin in race 2....then Melandri bobbled....Checa was pullin' hard on the line...but settled for 3rd....it's too bad for race 1 as Checa could have gone 3/3 or 2/3 who knows, really padding his lead....but the venerable 1198 held it own on a track where it was said it didn't have a chance to do too well.....next race please!!!

From here on out WSBK is gonna get really interesting.
I really hope Checa can keep it together till the end. He hasn't put a foot wrong all season until that crash in race 1 so it was kind of expected, but still, I hope that Aragon will be remembered as the only low point of Checa's 2011 season.

I think Checa will be OK. These next two rounds are going to be difficult for him, he needs to keep his head down and get as many points as he can and prey Biaggi doesn't win. I knew there would be a breaking point for Checa and I had just hoped it wasn't so soon. This is about the time when Haga's season fell apart in 2009 and they're about to hit up Brno which should be interesting. But I think silverstone will be a different sort of race and we could see Checa regain some ground since nobody has ridden the new config yet.
There are 6 rounds left and all Checa has to do is be consistent and keep gaining on the other lads. I don't think he'll break under the pressure as Sir Neil Hodgeson said on the commentary from Aragon.

When there's 50 points at stake each round anything can happen in WSBK.
It is always harder to lead than to chase. A lot more pressure when your the rider everyone wants to beat.
I agree with Tye in saying that Checa needs to secure, keep his head down, and consolidate the 'buffer' he has already created this season on his competition.
He has some formidable 'chasers', I'm hoping he can bring the Duc' home. But winning a world title is never easy.

IMO his only real threat is Biatchi. Melandri is a great racer, but he still suffers from the kind of inconsistency that doesn't win you championships.
That said, if Melandri becomes more consistent then we're in for a hell of a title chase.

I hope Carlos takes the title while two Italian jockeys are busy bitch-slapping each other in the pits, but where would be the fun in that? So for the final race, tied on points and winner takes all scenario would be best but not likely.

...not over yet for sure....it seems like sometime in every season there's a low point in the series....not from a riders standpoint, just a ho-hum race, seem like Aragon was it, new track maybe.....
....Checa's 1198R has more motor this year....could the removal of the geared cams cause the Aprilia to be a touch "slower".....whatever, the 1198R pulled Cameo's Aprilia all the way down the long front straight.......I think this is were Checa felt he would get beat pretty bad....I think there's more to that 1198 engine then what WSBK gave em' this year....
.....SPEED is onto something w/ the engine audio, we need to hear more of it, louder....as it's interesting to see when they shift up and back down, when they apply WOT, when they feel their way around a corner....I think SPEED needs to tap into this more often, provide better audio, becasue it provides another geat aspect to motocycle racing.
