This is something good (I think). Eastern Europe can use the distraction of motorsport. The fucking place is so wracked by bureaucratic corruption and stupidity. A world class event like this makes people a little more aware of the things than can be achieved (if they could somehow make their politicians a little more honest and caring for the fucking citizenry that finances the bribes they make).

Kind of like campaign donors like big oil, banks, agri business, etc here. If you know want to know how someone votes in congress, just look at who finances his/her campaign. Its legal now for corporations to donate as much as they want now per a recent supreme court decision. This form of corruption and bribery will only go away if we had honest campaign finance reform. People have tried but not surprisingly it gets shot down. Maybe after some recent revelations regarding big business taxes and other ulterior political schemes, people might wake up, who knows. Just like going after drug dealers and terrorists, follow the money and you'll find answers.

I watched couple WSBK races on Russian TV years ago, commentary was terrible (worse than Speed) but at least they were trying to market the sport even back than.
F1 is also going to Russia but they have big following, always had, and now with hot shoe Vitaliy kicking ass there is a huge following, probably worth few bucks to Renault selling few new cars to Russian fans.
Motorcycles should become a huge market there: traffic jams, relative cost of cars vs bikes and especially the speed to dollar ratio will guarantee the success.

Thought I've heard everyone of those by now, guess not. Still funny, even 20 years after "Soviet" part went kaput.
