Sport1000 Exhaust Options
Yep, another exhaust thread ........ I'm working on a deal on a (yellow) Sport1000. Hope it works out; would be a hell of a stable-mate for my MH900e. If it does, I will need pipes. It's that simple; the stock cans simply don't work for me.
I've tried to reread all the exhaust threads and am even more confused than I was before. It looks like these are our current options:
1 Aella full system ( Japanese; difficult to get; ca $3K)
2 Zard fulls system ( back-firing issue; ca $1,600)
3 Termi 2-1 ( plug & play with new ECU and airbox-lid; slight performance gain; ca $1,800)
4 Termi 2-2 ( plug & play; ca $1,300)
5 Staintune 2-2 ( polished stainless steel OEM-look-alike; ca $ ??)
Anyone aware of additional options, please chime in. Also, please share your personal experience with the exhaust system of your choice, when you're aware of lower prices (where?) ..... are there (performance) issues, too quiet, too loud, etc.

Heard the Termi 2 into 2 on a Sport and love the sound. I like it better than the Termis on the GT as it is a little mellower. Would love to hear the Staintunes...
PS: I would receommend getting a kit that comes with a new (tuneable) ECU, or ecpect to replace the stock one as soon as a PC III is available.
PPS: Just found this link of a Sport 1000 with Termi 2:2 on Speezilla: http://matoo2002.com/hawc.mov

Staintune full system will probably run about 1200-1300.
Arrow has both a set of slip ons and a full system, no pricing I'm aware of, but id be surprised if it wasn't in the 800-900 for slips and 1200-1400 for full system range.
Akrapovic said they were working on one, but haven't answered any follow up e-mail, Leo Vince has not answered inquiries either.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the Termi 2-2 also comes with ecu and air box lid.

Out of the box, I like the Termi 2-2. Then again, that's what I've got, so I'm a little biased.
On the other hand, if you're one of those people (not lazy like me!), the Termi 2-1 looks amazing if you put some work into it. What some of the people on this board have done with that pipe brings a tear to your eye. Of course, out of the box it looks like Stalin-era Eastern European plumbing to me.
At this point, it looks like the Termi's are your best bet for trouble free operation. Mine were lean and popped pretty badly, but the dealer was able to dial them in without any problems thanks to the ECU. It sounds like the Zards are still a work in progress for tuning. I don't know about the others.
I still think it's criminal what an exhaust system costs for our bikes, but what cha gonna do?

Zard is expected to have a 2-2 slip-on available soon. There is a guy on Ebay taking pre-orders for Arrrow slip-ons, under $1100 for the full system 2-1.

I've followed the exhaust threads on several lists and, at this point, the Termi's seem to be the most trouble free of the pipes that are currently available. I went with the Termi 2:1 mainly because I preferred its looks and because my headers were already turning that funky chalky color that they can get after only a few hundred miles.
I noticed a definite performance improvement with the 2:1 system. I didn't weigh the stock pipes vs. the Termi but I wish I had. The weight savings with the Termi is considerable.
Prior to installing the pipe/ecu/air box system doing a wheelie was something that had to be pretty intentional. After installing the system power wheelies just happen if I'm accelerating even moderately briskly.

I've got the Termi 2-into-2 system. It's been great for me . . . good sound (baffles in). . . . good looks . . . excellent performance . . . . and no problems.
