kickstand kill switch question

quick question for anyone who knows...

does the kickstand kill switch break a contact or make one when it is down and the engine won't start?

i'm knee-deep in re-wiring my entire loom after the charging system meltdown and i'm gonna just eliminate it and don't know whether to connect the two wires up in the loom or leave 'em separate.

thanks in advance!

Connect them and the bike will start and not die when you put it in gear.

GTRossi... I went through that route as well.
+1 papawheelie/barfer
Watch out, it's easy to forget the kickstand down.
It happened to me the other day leaving the gas station, it touched while making a left turn at low speeds.
Just be careful out there.

once ya stack it because ya left the side stand down you will never make that mistake again-I I reckon GTR wants to be able to warm the bike up without having to sit on it-Question please-what sc has the sidestand wiring in your part of the world mate?Over here I have not seen any

You don't have to sit on it to warm it up. You can warm it up with the kickstand down as long as you have it in neutral. But if you put it in gear with the kickstand down the engine dies. I would think that it would be the same for everyone's, not just the US.

Ah thank you BB-J thought Mr Rossi was talking about a cut-out switch like on my sons 02 supersport-you have to have the sidestand up to start that one-

i'm just in the mode of ripping out all superfluous electronics on my bike - after a wire loom meltdown, i don't want all the extra crap anymore. just the basics. it's shocking how many flimsy connectors and marginal splices there are in my loom - so i'm cleaning house.

this is the first bike i've ever owned that had a kickstand cut-out switch, so i'm not too worried about riding off with the stand down. of course i've now just set myself up for a really embarrassing post later on
