Duc Newbie Question 600 mi?
What is required at the 600 mile service for the Sport 1000. I called my dealer and they said all they have time for right now is an oil change but the only other thing required is a fuel filter. I thought the valves were adjusted as well. Can some one enlighten me here? TIA
and sorry for the newbie question.

They do the oil/filter and check belt tension.

My GT is in the shop today for the EFI to be recalibrated. I was running lean and popping on deceleration. I have 500 miles on the bike, so I took this opportunity to have them do the first scheduled maintenance as well.
The computer work is covered under warranty. They're going to change the oil (Golden Spectro), new filter, clean a screen on (what I presume is) an oil sensor, check the cam belts, throttle bodies, chain, tires, and spokes. There may be more.
3 hours and materials : $210.

Let us know if they are able to recalibrate as some have said that the ECU is closed loop and cannot be altered. Mine is popping on decel also.
Thanks

I recently scheduled my 600 mile service for August 17th, even though I already had 500+ miles on it. This was the soonest they could get me in. Anyway I was out riding the twisties in the middle of nowhere today, passed 600 miles which is not really that relevant to this story. (They said if I pass 600 it's OK) Anyway at mile 631 the bike just stopped running while cruising a straightaway at around 70mph. I have a GT1000 with the Termis on it. Never ran it without them and has always run fine. Fortunately the dealer was hauling a couple bikes already near where I broke down and he stopped and picked me up and trailered the bike back to the dealership. Lucky me. The bike would turn over but not start. The guy who picked me up was not the mechanic but said it sounded like an ECU problem. Any ideas rom you guys out there? Anybody heard of this happening with other bikes just quitting like that? I have included a picture of the bike left for dead on the road. Taken with the cel phone so don't mind the quality. I'll keep you up to date on what the diagnosis was.

Actually,at the 33 mile mark, my GT 1000 quit and wouldn't restart. The dealer picked me and the bike up. The next day he found the problem. The fuel line between the electric fuel pump and the fuel filter (inside the tank) had blown off because of the clamp not being properly installed. Unfortunate for sure, but I learned a little about the bike so I really didn't mind. Almost 1000 miles later the bike is absolutely great. It would be interesting if you have the same problem that I had.

The belts as mentioned above, but my dealer also rechecked every nut/bolt/spoke to make sure nothing came loose. They even partially disassembled the front end to check that it was tight and wearing correctly.
And BTW, you can adjust the ECU. I don't know who said you couldn't, but I as well as others have had it sucessfully adjusted to straighten up the lean-ness.

Turns out it was the same thing for me. My fuel line must have come loose while riding. I haven't been to the dealer to get the official explanation from a mechanic yet, but I spoke to an employee of the dealership at our local Two Wheel Tuesday gathering and he told me it was the fuel line inside the gas tank. If it hasn't happened to you yet you might want to have your dealer check it out at your 600 mile service or you might get stranded!

Please have your dealer tell my dealer, BCM and Fast By Ferracci how to do it, because all three of these highly qualified and reputable shops, as well as the eastern US Ducati Rep are saying that it's not possible, and I have the bike to prove it.
The word I'm getting is that due to the new EU (European Union) pollution regs, Ducati made these bikes with a closed loop system with an oxygen sensor to ensure that these systems cannot be tampered with, or at the very least making it very hard to tamper with them. You are not the first person to say that your dealer fixed the leanness problem, and I believe you! I just want to know how they did it, because no one around here has any idea.

thanks for the replys. I think I have decided to just wait untill I return from my six week treck to Texas Uncle Sam is sending me on. I was going to take my bike with me but with out the service completed and no dealer within 300 miles of where I will be I just dont think its a good idea now. Thanks again. Happying Riding.
