New Owner

Hi all,

Just bought a 2009 GT1000 SportClassic and wanted to introduce myself to the forum.

She's got less than 2000 miles and has been off the road for a while, so I'm trying to sort out what she needs. Probably fluids, hoses, tires, etc.

Can anyone in Brooklyn or NYC recommend a shop? Ducati Soho/Mototainment? Brooklyn Moto? Motoborgotaro?

Bought it from the owner's family so information and records are scant, but it looks like it has the 14T gear up front and the charcoal canister removed. Also the records say the front was lowered and lower shocks were also put on -- what's up with that?

Here's a picture of her parked on a Brooklyn street. Am I nervous as hell? Yeah, and yesterday it rained all day . . .

Welcome. Nice looking GT. Regarding the suspension. Owner may have just been short and wanted to lower the seat height so it was easier for him/her to get their feet down. I would definitely have the oil, brake fluid and belts changed if they are the original belts. If it has the pirelli phantom tires on it, they most likely need to be replaced as well. You can check the sidewalls and see what year they were made. There was also an issue with the fuel pump hoses coming off. I would have your mechanic check and see if this was taken care of. Those pipes should sound really good!

I like Rockwell Ducati or Hudson Valley Motorcycles. Yes none are in the city but both are known as the best around and can accommodate with drops offs and travel to and fro.

Get to know JC at JC PAKBIKES aka SportClassic Specialties. He's the best source for parts, knowledge, and of course, for that FLEDA taillight system you definitely need to put on the bike asap.

Welcome, good advice from everyone, do the belts, fluids, tires if,old and ride it for a while, see if suspension works for you as is and if not do what has to be done to make that right.

Echoing what many others have said - WELCOME! However, one thing I noticed in their responses is lack of feedback RE coolant hoses. My '05 ST3 has the original hoses albeit with < 11K on the clock. For the benefit of all other liquid cooled riders here, what's the down low on replacing hoses??
