Exhaust options

Newbie here...

With my bike on its way (tomorrow I will pick it up), I have looked at the options for replacing the stock exhaust on the 06 SC.

Can anyone tell me if there is significant performance differences between the 2-1 Paul Smart termignoni exhaust vs. the 2-2 Black anodized pipes? I believe both come w/ ECU and air filter (right?).

As for suppliers, can anyone recommend a good source/prices for these exhausts?

Sorry if this is a re-hash...

it's a good question.. I've no idea!

One thing you go gain with the 2:1 is ground clearance... worth it if you ride like a nutter and do lots of track days... you can get the downpipes on the floor with the 2:2

I doubt there's much difference though... if you want more power buy a 1098

There's a significant difference on the price too (approx $500) between both pipes (understandably, there is more parts with th 2-1).

i just spoke with my dyno guy here and he recommended for performance to go with the Arrows. he said the Termi 2-1 was really good as well.... i am assuming the 2-2 is pretty good, probably just under the 2-1 as far as performance goes. YMMV

But with the Arrows, you need to get a DP ECU separately (mucho $$) or find some other way to adjust fuelling. I doubt the new CO manipulator jobbie is going to do it.

Yes, both the Termi 2-2 and 2-1 kits come with the airbox lid (just a stock lid with a big hole in it) and the DP ECU.

Definitely not the manipulator alone, no, but it I think someone indicated that the manipulator would allow use of a stock ECU with a Power Commander - unless I'm mistaken, it goes like this: With the stock ECU, the manipulator fixes the sub-4000 closed-loop range, and the PCIII does the open-loop 4000-plus range.

Kind of a hack, but hey, kind of cheaper too.

Dying to know just how well the manipulator can handle a modified airbox under 4k rpms. My very basic understanding of our systems suggests that this would provide some obvious improvement over stock, but just how much? I imagine it might still be lean, but would it be within an acceptable range?

Under 4K shouldn't be a problem, it's what the AFR looks like when in open loop with a stock ECU, open airbox and exhaust. I don't know if we'll have time to open up the airbox, but look for O2 Manipulator dyno results this weekend as I'm finally taking my GT1000 in to test. I'm currently running the replacement euro ECU, Staintune exhaust & stock airbox.

One of the other beta testers of the O2 Manipulator spent some time at his local dealer last weekend and although I haven't personally looked at the dyno numbers, it appears he will have no problem running an open exhaust AND open airbox on his GT1000 in closed and open loop. Hopefully we'll see his results posted to the forum.

Thank you for the timely (and well placed) response. I have been meaning to ask some of these questions in your thread. Like many others, I'm looking to skip the DP ECU and use a PCIII instead. These initial results have peaked my interest. I have no doubt I'll be a convert soon enough, but am looking forward to your weekend results. Consider me tuned in

Not a "hack" at all, because if you get the PCIII dyno tuned the map will likely be quite a bit better than the DP ECU map for any one particular bike. In fact, there have been a few posts showing pretty definitively that even with the Termi kits, you can get better power by putting a PCIII in to fine tune the DP ECU. The DP unit runs a little too rich as delivered at WOT.
