Tank Gaurd?

What have people been doing for a tank gaurd? I have seen the Ducati and Clay Carrier pictures, but never in person. The pictures give me the impression that they are out of place on the bike. Are there any options available that blend in with the tank and paint? I did a quick mock up with some black electrical tape and white tape to extend the painted stripe down toward the seat. A pad in this shape and color would be wide enough for me and also blend in as opposed to accent while still protecting the tank from scratches.

Lots of folks are using transparent film as sold by 3M and Tank Slapper. It gives good protection, and, if carfully applied, is nearly invisable.

I highly recommend the "Tank Slapper" static/vacuum cling as a first try. It is very inexpensive and pretty easy to install with just a little patience. I have it on my GT 1000 and it's nearly invisible. At only $15 how can you go wrong? I wish they made something for the leading half of the front fender.

Tank grips

I guess this could be classified as a tank guard, but I put them on more as a riding aid, as well as something to give it a retro look.

Can anyone post up photos of techspec on a non-black bike so I can see what it looks like?

I used the TankSlapper film with great success. I sent them a picture of the final product on my bike but they couldn't use it because they couldn't see it on the tank!

Tankslapper looks pretty good, but if you *really* move around on the bike like on the track, it wrinkles up and comes off, well at least it did on my bike.

The TankSlapper covers the sides, rear and top rear...you know, where your crotch lands when coming to a quick stop or your lower jacket rubs against it. The film won't help you hold on to the tank with your knees which is why I got StompGrip. I got it because it's clear...I really don't want to take away from the tank as it looks great nekked However, seeing the TankSpec on a yellow Duc doesn't look too bad, I may eventually go that route. There's also a tank grip product called Snake Skin you could check out.
