Somebody has to step up with something before that. I just don't understand how there can be that much delay in an accessory part that almost automatic for our bikes.
The 2-1 don't have that delay (at least I think they don't) but they cost $550 more.

I think we all could learn something about these long waits if we went over and lived in Italy, or Europe even, for a while. They don't subscribe to the rat-race, 24-7, gotta-have-it-now, Wal-Mart American lifestyle.
Be that as it may, what could and should happen is Ducati NA should stock A LOT more parts and accessories here in the States to satisfy demand.
I heard a lot of the same thing from BMW owners about BMW's parts network, but after working at a BMW dealership for a year now, I gotta tell ya, they're pretty damn good. BMW has a network of 6 warehouses across the states, I can get next day delivery for about 6% of the cost of the part, and I can easily get parts for everything clear back to 70's Airheads. Occasionally a part is back-ordered, and I'll place it on emergency status to expedite it from Germany. I'll usually have it in 2 weeks.
Don't mean to brag, or take up bandwidth, but just comment on how it could be. And quite frankly, the whole motorcycle parts industry SUCKS compared to the world of heavy equipment parts. There, I could call the factory on a back-ordered part, have them take it off a machine moving down the assembly line, put it on an airline seat, AND HAVE IT THAT AFTERNOON if need be. We motorcyclists think that when we shake a fistful of dollars in the air, we should get some action, but I doubt if things will ever change in the motorcycle world, because the "they're just toys" attitude prevails.
