Ignition switch cover replacement

I just got a carbon ignition switch cover for a 999. It is supposed to fit our bikes and does except for the antenna on the inside. Does anyone know how to remove the antenna around the inside of the stock SC ignition switch cover?

Thanks for the reply Gusman. Mine isn't like that. It is contained in a plastic ring that is attached somehow to the cover and has a spade connector for. the wire. Any other ideas?

Can you post pictures?

And where did you get the carbon piece? I think the only one I saw slipped over the stock part instead of replacing it....

TH, I think you can just remove it from the original cover and as said before just wrap it around ignition switch letting it end up near the position it was in on the cover. Just has to be in proximity of housing, maybe a little electric tape to keep it just.

I did it!

My antenna loop consisted of a lot of fine wires wound around the ignition key barrel. They were enclosed in a loop of insulation and then hot melted to the top of the stock plastic cover. With a little persuasion the insulation/fine wire assembly was separated and placed in side the new CF cover. The cover was from a 999 and fit perfectly. The only problem I then had was that my WASP TMSD bracket needed to be relieved to fit around the ever so slightly different shaped CF cover. Hope that helps.

To my knowledge, the 999 didn't come with that stock... Any idea who the manufacturer or vendor is?

@ Dendrophobe. I bought the part used. I see that Motomfg sells one for a 999. I have also seen the Moto Wheels one that slips over the stock one. Mine does not and I know it came off a 999. The slip over version would not work for me as I have a WASP TMSD and that bracket is attached to the mounting bolts. I had to relieve it slightly as it was.
