Cold Days in Germany
Yesterday I couldn't longer resist ... luckily, in our area there is no snow in the moment,
so I took my GT1000 for a ride.
I was surprised how easily the engine started (my bike sleeps outside in the cold ...)
- just a few cranks, and voila!
Thanks to modern fabrics it wasn't that cold, just the fingers - but it was really great!
Blue sky, sun shining, clear, pure air, nice and cosy -10° Celsius (about 14 ° Fahrenheit).
No other motorbikes on the street. Funny enough, the oil temperature never went
over 75 Celsius (167 Fahrenheit).
After one hour my fingers told me urgently to ride back home (cowards!).
Can't wait for spring ...
JG

Tell me if you need better rear shocks, I might help you out.

I'm not THAT insane ... we don't have any snow here, and the streets are perfectly dry, no ice (only ice cold!).
Still, you never know what might happen behind the next corner ... I hate especially those cars with a/c, they like to drip [?] water drops, and at some stop lights you can find nice little ice traps.
BTW: about the shocks we can talk. I bought my GT just in December, so all my trips were rather limited (too much water ...).
I just made 2.000 very, very careful kilometers, not enough experience to figure out how I might like the stock settings for real.

It's pretty cold here too, had a few rides but stopped when the snow came down because of the ice. Was -20 the other night!!
As for fingers, try Gerbing's gloves, I use them throughout the winter and you can ride for hours with them (I've done a fair few rides with them, where the temp is around -10).

I was just in Leipzig and you sir, are nuts!
It was cold in Germany. Deep into your bone cold even for just a quick walk to the restaurant around the corner from the hotel let alone getting on a motorcycle.
Crazy...

...lot of salt on the streets!
Alter, Du brauchst 'nen Arzt!
Last year I made a short trip at -2°C, first the fingers, than the feet, the nose, the knees, the best piece. Spring will come, that's for sure.
