Rear Brake (rearset) help on Biposto to Mono
Hi All,
Sorry to bore you with this again... but I am finally getting ride of my "ugly black triangles" and have ordered some aftermarket rearsets to fit on my Biposto. (and some Mack hangers from JC)
They are made for an SC mono (also 900ss) so for one of those they are a direct swap, but I am pretty sure I will need some kind of bracket to remount my rear brake M/C, mono-style (or maybe also ss style?)
Please can any of you who have fitted rearsets to your mono, or upgraded your biposto rearsets to mono-style, please look at these photos and tell me what parts I am missing to do this swap in a single day's work, so I'm not left with a bike that has no back brake while I source parts.
These are the rearsets from all angles:
Current setup:
Monoposto EM setup:
There is clearly some kinda bracket holding the M/C onto the crankcase below the brake lever. This may be generic to a few Ducs? (I'm assuming I can res-use my M/C in a new location?).
I'm also assuming the gearbox side is fine?

I just found this post from my earlier thread - with pics from JC
and the Right side you would also need the brake pedal assembly and bracket
It helps a bit... But practical advice is still needed.

Hmm, where to start...
as you figured out already the gearing side is simply plug &play. A bit tricky seems the right side. You will need the bracket, bought it off ebay. furthermore you pretty much need all the conundrum which is in line with bolt#27 plus bolt#15. even the spring isnīt exchangeable. the master cylinder and periphery is fine and can be reused.
good luck!

I was kinda hoping that the spacers, washers and even the spring would be similar to those already used with the rear brake pedal in the biposto setup? - and that all I would need is that bracket...
Hmmmm....
They may all be quite cheap as new parts, but knowing Ducati....
I was also wondering about the rear brake light switch?
Anyone got the parts mircofiche of the Biposto set up, so I can see what's missing?

What you'll need is the collar bolt (#27 in the rear brake assembly diagram) and spring (#21). ~ $30 & 8 USD respectively.
That reservoir tube might not be long enough.
Does that rearset kit come with bolts/washers/o-rings?
Most of the bolts can be sourced from hardware store.

Nope, the spring is different.
As for the rear brake switch - seems to be quite a stretch. I've seen pics were people have rerouted to the outside of the rear reservoir, but I wasn't able to do this, had to route onto the underside of the downtube. I'll post pics. (This is if you're running Zard exhausts)

749/999 mount fits the SC and is a standard bit on the Smart and monos mate-I ordered one new from the shop-about the same price as one on ebay plus shipping-dont forget the little grab/plug for the brake spring-I did

Petrole - that is a superb help. Thanks you so much.
I think the rear set kit I have bought is just whet you see in the photos, so I will have to source the generic bits.
I like it's simple looks, and it was easier to find than a monoposto OEM setup in good condition - and no more expensive either.

Also itīs true as you can buy a used bracket off a 999/749. I did and it fits perfectly.
