I use a Supersprox rear sprocket, it has a aluminum center for light weight, & a steel outer ring for durability. For even lighter weight you might want to try a 520 chain set-up.

It's always wise to replace the sprockets at the same time as the chain - they tend to "wear together". Putting a new chain on worn sprockets will knacker the chain mucho quickly.
Don't want to recommend brands as I'm in the UK - I've always gone for B&C but don't know if they're available across the water.

1000 GT/Sport/Paul Smart 06-10 Sprocket Center
Does this help?
I bought a set from here after I did a 999 wheel conversion... but i went for a 520 size chain setup...

I just ordered the 520 Supersprox kit from JC. He gives a good discount. Also if you are getting other than stock gearing there is a chart that shows what the best combinations are for wear purposes .

I also purchased my chain/sprocket set from JC. Good price, great service, and he is the sponsor of this forum.
I went with the 520 versus the stock 525. the 520 is both lighter and less expensive.
I am not sure which SC you have, but the stock gearing on the Sport 1000 is 15/38. Most folks go down one tooth is the front to a 14T. It will transform your bike, making it easier to start off from a dead stop. I also went ahead and increased my rear sprocket to 41T. That gives you even faster acceleration, but at the cost of ultimate top speed. But it will also give you more use of all your gears, meaning you will actually be able to use 5th and 6th gear.

IMHO, re-gearing the bike (going down on the front sprocket and/or up on the rear) DOES make the bike more user friendly as a daily ride, and the gearing more usable overall (otherwise you will rarely need to get into even 4th gear).
