RECON: Relocate Horn?
Newbie wondering how difficult would it would be to relocate the horn location? I dislike the factory horns on my '07 SC. I want to hide them next to the battery behind the frame covers.
I don't want to risk screwing up my other electrical. Do you think a novice could move the wiring, or is it all bundled together? Perhaps having a dealer do it?
I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions.
Thanks
Dan

do a search, there are a few good threads on the topic. The wiring to the horn is not too tough to move; you should be able to do it without a dealer, i could do it, and i am an electrical numbskull.
a good rainy saturday project...
enjoy.

I went to a single horn when I moved it. The stock wiring is long enough to reach a suitable hiding place, mine is mounted to the foward bolt on the underside of the airbox. You may have to release the stock wiring from ziptie bondage or something, but it will reach. It's just been a long time since I did this. You might also consider removing the chrome trim cap, it should just snap off. The all-black look is stealthier IMO.
I can't tell much difference in volume bettween one and two horns.

Easy job to hide. Cut one horn off (right side). Remove the gaudy chromed plastic cover to reveal a small matt black metal horn. Re-affix the horn to one of the oil cooler bolts on the left hand side of the bike. You'll never notice it again. Takes ten minutes if you've never done it before.

The connector for the horn wire harness is located on the frame cross tube just above the coil (Above the oil cooler).
You have to pull the tank (not hard) to cut the wire ties to release the wires. The cleanest solution would be to buy an extra horn wire harness section and snip the connector off and attach the wires you need.
The real trick is where to hide the horn. You GT guys have it easy with side covers. I am still scratching my head on where to put it on my sport… bolting it to the oil cooler is a bit to visible for me.
Cheers,
Lee

Just like Riderjeff, I also removed one horn and put the other on the underside of the airbox. See my post here with pictures.

Thanks ticktok, your pictures help.
I looked at that bolt originally, and thought it would be a hassle to bend up a bracket to fit…. Apparently I need to look at it again.
