It's my understanding that it's possible to re-title a junk title pending an inspection by the DMV? Assuming of course you restore it to fully operational condition. If the frame itself is straight and the engine is good, may be a good buy?

That's my experience in most states. After a DMV safety inspection your issued a "Salvage" title. This ensures that any future owner knows it was once totaled.

That being said, I'm not sure you'd be able to salvage it for $2500. A new tank alone is like $1800. And if you can't get just the one termi slip on replacement, that set is like $1600.
