Tank not replaced now What?
So It seems the service manager at Mancuso Power Sports SW That told me My new tank was approved By Ducati LIED and I am NOT getting a new tank but just the repair/Shim kit. So do I just wait and hope It gets worse before the warranty runs out ?
I am so aggrivated with this my head is spinning. How can a company that prides themselves on superb craftsmanship and quality such as Ducati Not get things right after the problem and solution are made so clear.

I wonder if it because you have a 1000 SE, which would mean getting the tank painted, as opposed to a regular red, black, silver or yellow tank????????

I had an idea this spring that I am now trying. Since my paint is kind of screwed and my tank is kind of spread, I'm doing an experiment.
1. Take off and drain tank.
2. 'unspread' tank with ratchet straps
3. wait
4. release tank
5. wait more
6. coat tank
7. reinstall
I'm currently on step 3. I found the measurement of what the dimensions between the mounting brackets were, and my tank was spread 3/4 of an inch. I compressed it probably 1.5 inches, so hopefully at step 4 it is back to normal shape. It's winter anyways, so what else do I have to do?

I know how frustrated you are, I went through the same thing.
I would suggest trying another dealership. The bigger dealers seem to be more successful at getting replacement tanks.
My tactic was to contact DNA directly to discuss the situation and express my frustration. It got me nowhere but started the process. I then wrote several letters to Ducati Italy through the website. That also got me nowhere.
Eventually I wrote directly to the president of DNA and included copies of all previous correspondence. It took a few weeks, but he did write back and he approved a new tank for my GT "as a gesture of goodwill". I would suggest a similar approach. Try to be patient but be very persistent. You'll get a new tank.

Remember to remove the fuel pump and the fuel cap to let air circulate through the tank and to insure that all of the fuel is gone. I hung mine up in the garage for about a month last winter and it shrunk back almost all the way without using ratchet or any kind of straps. I then sent it to Framecrafters for coating. So far so good.

The same method used by my local Atlanta Ducati dealer...

oh yeah, I definitely did that, especially since the tank is sitting in the guest bedroom right now. My girlfriend gave me a REALLY funny look when she came in and I was hosing out my gas tank in the shower.

I wonder whether it makes a difference if your the first owner or not? I myself am the second owner so that makes me worry if thats a factor with replacement or not.

I am the second owner of my GT. I don't think it matters. It took me a few months, but I was successful getting a new tank.
Based on what I've read on this forum, I really believe the dealership you work through makes more of a difference than anything else.

arbakken - I'm almost certain someone on ducati.ms recently tried something similar with little success. I'd search before spending too much time on this.
