Alternative Rear End
Well, it's not finished - but it's coming along nicely.
I wanted a clean, minimal, timeless look to the back of my Duc, not necessarily retro or classic, but definitely not modern or date-able.
I've had bullet-shaped indies on the bikes for a while, and then found these integrated light/brake/indies on the Shin-Yo website in Germany (thanks MojoDuc), which would give me that 'Jetsons' modern-retro vibe, with as few components as possible, eliminating the need for separate indies - but leaving a few issues in attaching the license plate.
Fitting the lights was as easy as you could possibly imagine, as I simply drilled out the two rear that hold the back of the OEM tail and just bolted them through.
To attach the license plate I made a very simple T-shaped bracket from 3mm steel, and painted it black. It attaches to the same bolts that hold the seat lock on to the subframe - I just put two longer bolts on. This means very easy removal for track days or shows.
It's not pretty or clever, but it looks neat once finished and painted - and it does the job
I'm sure the end result won't be to everyone's taste - but I like it.
It's not finished. For some reason, one indie flashes faster than the other, but two LED flasher relays will sort that., but they are certainly clear and bright enough. I also plan to attach a number plate light... The wiring is there and it'll sit nicely on the simple bracket.
The bike is back to it's original red for now, but this will change soon.
...Meanwhile I hope some of you appreciate my Simoncelli tribute. Gone but not Forgotten: 58.
...And if you wanna know where the battery is, the OEM unit is under the seat in the undertray.

I believe you should only need one relay for the LED flasher.
I like the tail pod. Makes me want to get one for my bike.

Do you mean I only need one relay on the right hand side - i.e. for the one indie that flashes faster? (It's very odd that the L/H side is fine)
I love the tail pod. It just looks proper 70s. Now that I have one, I can't imagine the old look.

One relay that handles all of the turn signaling needs. It doesn't matter that one side works and the other doesn't. BTW, isn't the wiring swapped for the turn signals on one side of the bike? I don't recall if it was just a front or rear signal issue or both ends were affected. Maybe that is causing the issue?

Both right indies are flashing faster now that I've added the LED rear.
The left hand side flashes as normal.
Previously I had aftermarket indies but both used bulbs, (which I think offer their own resistance). I also read (somewhere on here?) that the actual flashing of the indies was governed electronically somewhere in the clocks, rather than by resistance, but that could be crap.
Are you saying that I should put the replay on any one of the two right indies to fix it, or that one relay should sit somewhere else in the loom?
Previously, when I've put LED indies on other bikes they ALL flashed too fast and I needed to fit a pair of relays to just back or front.

You're saying relay, but I'm thinking you mean resistor. Adding a resistor to match an incandescent bulbs resistance is a common ploy. The other, more elegant way is to use an LCD-specific relay that handles the flashing for all of the lights.
